Hardware What graphics card should I get?

Nothing. With current prices you'd be lucky to get a decent gpu alone for $400.

I'm planning on using it for gaming, and yeah, the $500 is for everything

As stated, $500 can't even get a decent enough GPU. You're better off with a PS5 or Series X.

What types of games and at what settings?

Although at this price, I’m wondering if you may be stuck with integrated graphics e.g. an AMD APU and then buy a better GPU later or going second hand. Subject to the above question.

Or as stated buying a console.

really bad time to buy any pc parts, not just gfx cards, wait another 6 months and check out if prices went down

If you're targeting 1080p, I have an AMD RX 580 8GB (MSI Armor OC v1) I would consider selling if we could make a deal. That'll do 1080p 60 on most games with high to ultra settings, and higher res or frame rates on some others.

It's sitting in a spare parts PC right now, but I'm not particularly attached to the card and wouldn't charge scalper prices.
