^ yeah, great games.. i used to play them on PC, minus the FPS one
Other candidate is definitely Pathway to Glory series from N-Gage!
It's a TBS on WWII setting, with non-grid selection (cloned by Warhammer: SC on DS & PSP) that will make stylus control fit the bill perfectly. Also, a crisp 2D isometric view won't pose a challenge for DS. Actually a remake isn't necessary, even just a port with slight changes on the interface will be great.
Some features in this game (i know it's inapproriate, just can't hold the urge):
- Destructible environments, including buildings, vehicles, obstacles, etc.
- Ability to ride vehicles, mount a gun, etc.
- Tons of weapons for each soldier classes, and yes you can customize them to fit your strategy
- Veterancy / Level-up system, especially for the weapons each soldier used
- Medals for reward of achievements
- Ad-hoc (this is really fun!)
- Hard: when your vets dead, then a bunch of noobz walk in
- Other things that i cant remember
Hopefully RedLynx can see what DS can offer to this gem
