I know it's broken but I just want to know what this error is called. The screen is broken but I don't think it's the panel, rather the cable.

You can play a game for a whole hour when it looks like that? Jeez man, respect

It's not as extreme as duo8's psp. Mine has this screen collumn on two row on the left side~ Nothing else is affected than this small area. It fixes itself after the screen is turned on around an hour.

It's far less annoying than 3000 psps with line in the middle :P

Wew, my 2000 psp does a similar thingy. It happens on the left side of the screen. It only happen after a long shutdown period. It fixes itself after about an hour while I play a game.
Mine gets worse the longer it's on, and got better after shutting down for some time.
 
Wow that looks like when an N3DS loses track of your eyes. It's more than likely the cable, cable connector, or display driver chip. It could very well be due to getting overheated and solder starting to move around a bit. That would explain VinsCool's erratic screen at least.
