Can someone give me a simple, noob-friendly explanation? All I know is that I have 3.90 M-33, that I can play ISO's and that's all I really know

1.50 kernel refers to the 1.50 firmware version, for the PSP Phats. 1.50 was able to play homebrew, and generally a lot of homebrew was written for the 1.50 kernel and some are still not compatible with 3.xx. PSP Phats have the ability to have an addon to the newer 3.xx firmwares that allows them to boot the 1.50 so they have the greatest compatibility with homebrew.

Slims can run 1.50 kernel apps using the Time Machine application, too.

Time Machine basically loads a mixture of 1.50, 3.40, and 3.60 firmware files from the memory stick rather than from the internal flash.

1.50 support is going away in Dark Alex's 4.00 firmware.

And the reason why people would want 1.50 even though they have a slim is because alot of the homebrew's require it, right? Unless you are upgrading to D.A.'s 4.01-M33, then you dont need to?
