I have two R4 cards and two 3ds (a new 3ds xl and an old 3ds xl) consoles. I have a R4 RTS 3DS and a ACE3DS PLUS. The RTS one works on my new 3ds perfectly fine, on my old 3ds I get only a black screen and I can't even go back to the home menu. The ACE one causes a SD/TF card error on my new 3ds. When I put the ACE card into my old 3ds I get again a blackscreen with no return to the home menu. In the RTS card is a 8gb micro sd card and in the ACE card is a 64gb micro sd card. Both are formatted with FAT32. The old 3ds is on firmware version 11.9 and the new one on 11.8

For the o3DS:
From the manufacturer's product specs page, the Ace3DS Plus is stated to only "Support SDHC (2G, 4G, 8G, 16G, 32G)."
Even though the FAT32 + 32 KB cluster size format is correct, 64 GB is simply too big.

There's a way to partition an SD card so that it has a smaller capacity using MiniTool Partition Wizard (free edition).
  1. Delete Partition (for both partitions)
  2. Initialize to MBR Disk -or- Convert GPT to MBR Disk (if it's in GPT Disk)
  3. Rebuild MBR
  4. Create a New Partition [ Create as: Primary | File System: FAT32 | Cluster Size: 32 KB | Partition Size: 29.81 GB]
You might be curious as to why the Partition Size inputted is 29.81 GB vs 32 GB. Real flash memories have actual capacities that never match nor exceeds their stated external package GB sizes. The value I supplied is the real size of my 32 GB Samsung EVO+ micro SDHC. Anything over 30 GB will probably not work with the Ace3DS Plus.
