As for GCN loading via USB, MIOS is irrelevant from what I understand.
He never said he wouldn't, which means theres still a possibility

What I mean is that MIOS isn't what determines whether GCN games can be loaded via USB at all.

You might want to read up here to understand a little more about the issue:

Are the new cIOS revisions (17, 18,19, 20) installable with WAD Manager 1.5, or is there a change? I'm still on rev. 14 I haven't been looking into the wii-mod scene for a while now and I missed rev 15 and 16. somewhere on the path..

I see things like "Custom IOSX" which gives me

or am I just gettin' worked up over nothing..

So whats the big deal with all these new cios's? 18 was hyped up in the same way. I have been on 17 for a while now with no problems, while friends that switched from 17 to 18 had problems with their loaders afterwards.

Sorry for sounding noobish, I just stopped paying attention to the scene for to long I guess.

there are always issues with loaders when new cIOS's are released. Things get changed around but the loaders are developed quickly as well and they change within a week (and that's a long estimate, usually more like 1-2 days). 18 was big because of the choice of base IOS to choose from. 17 is best for everyday users right now. 20 might be better for everyone in the near future but we will have to wait and see.

We may get support for the major filesystems, WBFS, NTFS and FAT32. And who knows what other goodies will be tossed in.

If you think cIOSxrev18 or 19 isn't special go back to cIOS36 rev9 and see if you like that better. Didn't think so.

Just to correct, there definitely won't be NTFS support in 20 or any future Waninkoko CIOS.
Waninkoko is quite vocal about loathing the format.

Yup, Waninkoko won't include NTFS support in the cIOS ,but the cfg loader and i think loader GX have already gotten it working.

Exactly. His prejudice against a freakin' file system is odd to me, but the beauty of having mload stuff is that other people can do it and he doesn't have to. Everyone wins. Yay!

Waninkoko uses Gentoo, so he doesn't have any NTFS partitions and doesn't care about it enough to develop and test NTFS support.

I don't really see the point of built in support for a given FS if it can just be added externally.

110% agree

NTFS is a good idea, but it's not up to waninkoko to add every little thing everyone wants, also even if he was to consider NTFS or some other FS it would be waaaaaaaaay down on his priority list imho.

If anyone remembers he also he also recently asked devs what they would want, built in modules or mload type and then decided to give us all both, so we really can't complain about what his cIOS do or don't have.

I'd actually love to see him chill on cIOS for a bit and maybe do some sort of app, maybe a newer loader, but then there are so many good loaders already, some app would be a nice surprise, his apps are ALWAYS good.

Also with how much he has done recently surely the guy deserve a break from requests for a bit. Just my 2 cents

hmmm why do people give their 2 cents, but if you ask someone you say " a penny for your thoughts" who is making the profit here I WANT TO KNOW ! ! !

Waninkoko is collecting money for an usb gecko right now. He didn't say it, but i think he won't continue his work on the cIOS until he has it. An usb gecko in Waninkoko's hand would be awesome anyways, it would speed up his development a lot. With an usb gecko he gets lots more info than by regular testing, while you may be able to tell where you get a black screen freeze, an usb gecko can tell for eample what commands the game send to the cIOS before the freeze(and it can a lot more). The last i heard was that he working at the IOS Reload problem and the nand emu, and both is something where debugging with an usb gecko is essential.

For those who don't understand, when i write something for NeoGamma and have a bug, i can just insert code into NeoGamma that makes it stop at certain places and display some info. That's why an usb gecko might nice for me but it's definatively not a must. But a cIOS can't output something to the screen, without an usb gecko, everything is done blindly.

Thanks for the link. Waninkoko deserves some donations for all he has contributed. He has really simplified my life.

It's 40 Euro pretty much everywhere in europe now. Well here's the official list:

But it's incomplete and outdated, you need to look for yourself
Do you have a copy of the USB Gecko Shematics/Source? The googlecode page is offline and I lost my copy

Sorry, no, but i think you can't assemble your own usb gecko for much less than these 40 Euros.
