Testing now... Give me a few, man.

Should I be keeping everything on my 2gb card intact and just add this stuff over it?

you need to mount the linux partition only, erase its contents, and extract the archive into that partition. the remaining partitions should remain untouched.

Well, as far as RAM, one might be able to pull off a NAND pagefile trick like what tueidj did for not64 which would be a bit faster in that aspect (although not sure about fast enough?) and I would hope that 3 cores would have the processing power necessary to do that
BUT
We're not sure yet how to send HD video info to the GPU or if it's even possible in do in vWii mode so we might still have to downscale it to 480p (something that is also impossible without 3 cores, at least) just to have the GPU upscale it again back to blurry HD. That's at least an improvement ... but I'm sure not quite what you were looking for.

Ok, I did everything again and double-checked that all of the folders were there and they are.

Here is the message that I get now:

e695dg.jpg

grab this http://vwii.idfbest.com/upload/zImage-3.0.86-CARVER_R2+.elf

rename to ppcboot.elf and replace your ppcboot.elf in the bootmii folder.

the other possibility is that however you extracted the archive, you didn't preserve the original permissions for the files. how are you mounting the partition, and how are you extracting these files?

Yes, you are correct. I am pretty sure that I did. It was set at default to do that... I will manually change it now and redo the trinux partition. Sorry for wasting time, I had no idea as this is my very first time using Ubuntu. Live and learn.

Edit:

Is it the "take ownership of filesystem" option that we are both speaking of?

It is set to be "checked" by default. This is the option that I should "uncheck," correct?

That option is asked when you are formatting.

The three options that I see come up when about to extract are:

Re-create Folders
Overwrite Existing Files
Do Not Extract Older Files

I am mounting and unmounting the partition in Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS.

Then using Ubuntu Archive Manager, I extract the contents of the "trinux-0.6.tar.bz" directly to the freshly formatted EXT3 "trinux" partition.

Yes you want to uncheck "take ownership of filesystem".

If the linux partition is empty before you begin, none of those three options should even be applicable.

On the Ubuntu desktop...

OK, Open up a Terminal;
type> pico extract.sh --this will open up a terminal editor

paste this inside:
Code:
cd /media/trinux && tar -jpxvf ~/Desktop/trinux-0.6.tar.bz2

Press Ctrl+X in the editor, and press Y, then enter, to save the file

type> chmod +x extract.sh
type> sudo ./extract.sh (notice ./ = dot-slash)

hopefully that will do it already.

if you press ALT+F2 does a box come up where you can type in? with an OK and cancel button.

If you type in that box "gnome-terminal" and press enter, does it open a terminal?

I have no clue what just happened, lol.

My disc drive started spinning up and down real quick now it is at a completely black screen with just a flashing cursor at the bottom left.

On the plus side, my keyboard has been initialized once again and is working just peachy in trinux.

christ almighty...

how did you boot trinux if you formatted the partition???
