I still very curious a about if anyone has try mugen fighting games with trinux.

Well first we should focus on getting all three Espresso cores running to their full potential, before anything. We need to establish this as a solid platform for homebrew before we can really rely on it. Of course, you're more then welcome to try these games out yourself if you'd like :)

Not trying to compete with Trinux or anything, but I also have plans to port my OS kernel to the Espresso in vWii mode. I figure it's a good way to combine the two programming projects I'm currently involved with. :) Right now, DarkSide only supports x86 PCs, but I've designed it portably so it shouldn't be too hard to add PowerPC support as well.

The more exploits out there the merrier! I'm only planning on (hopefully) helping out with the Trinux project, because I have a lot of knowledge on the subject of microprocessors and low level programming. Unfortunately, I don't think I'd be much help to the Webkit project as of right now, but then again, who knows?

I don't see exploit developments as being a competition in the slightest. The more exploits there are, the harder it will be for Nintendo to stamp them all out :P and the more options end users will have for methods of launching homebrew, as well as the type of homebrew they want to run :)

lol. Im only a windows user. I was thinking trinux was full running, sorry. Well i will wait and seehow the things go.

So Is it possible to use a USB WiFi dongle instead of a USB LAN adapter to connect to the internet on this?

I know this project has a ways to go but I have a stupid question: will trinux be a good platform for running emulators and playing media? And will it allow them to take advantage of the Wii u's hardware and HD video output?

It's basically Wii + 3 cores + with OS running on top.
It's useless for single-core programs, but might be useful for multi-core.

No HD. We need access to Wii U mode for that.

Some will some not so much. If you want guaranteed compatibilty just get. A wii/wii u lan adapter. If you happen to try out any usb wifi adapter please post your ressuts :)

currently i'm trying to figure out why root is inaccessible on easy wii linux, The main issue is there's no documentation on what the password is, because I can't check if my bluetooth dongle is recognized via hciconfig without root access ;-;

Ninja_Carver I have a proposition for you. First let me say this, this exploit has far too much potential to just let it fizzle out of existence. You being a linux sysadmin (making you a guru by default :-P) and my knowledge of microprocessors and assembly language, I think we should team up to make this exploit a full reality. It reminds me of the original xbox days when linux was THE platform for homebrew. I know this is not going to be easy by any means but if we "join forces" I know we can come up with something spectacular. What do you say?

I don't really have the time I used to for this project. Just bought a house, getting married soon, job is getting a bit crazy. On top of that I no longer own a Wii/U. Not sure how much help I can be. You can do most of the work on your own, honestly. If you're as good with CPU/ASM take a crack at compiling 3-core support into the Linux Kernel 3.0.86+ stub for PPC750.

Alrighty, I will see what I can do :)

UPDATE: Now that a Kernel Mode Exploit has been achieved, I assume the Trinux Exploit will lose relevancy as most "homebrewers" will be more concerned with an actual Wii U mode Full blown exploit then the Trinux project. However, I do plan on trying to keep this project alive as it still has its perks. For one, this flaw isn't really software patchable by Nintendo in anyway shape or form as its an epic design flaw in the hardware itself, meaning in order for Nintendo to truly block this exploit they're going to have to come out with new hardware revisions, but for all of us who already have our Wii U's right now, that won't change a thing. The worst Nintendo can do software wise to the Trinux Exploit is block the Title ID for the launcher itself, but all that would need to be done to get that up and running again is to simply change it XD trolololol

The Kernel Exploit for Wii U mode can always be patched fairly easily (of course it will likely become a game of cat and mouse and devs will released a tweaked version that bypasses the blockade only to get blocked again).

The Kernel Exploit I'm referring to is the one here: http://gbatemp.net/threads/mario-kart-8-mods.368371/ used for modding Mario Kart 8. This exploit hasn't been released to the masses yet, but its only a matter of time.

I did not think that was the full kernel mode exploit. Did I misread it?

her
It gives Chadderz and Beanz supervisor privileges in the Kernel rather then just user privileges. There is a LOT that can be done with this level of permissions. Its just that this particular video is just meant to serve as a "proof of concept" and nothing more. They aren't planning on releasing this anytime soon. More experimenting will need to be done to use this exploit to its full potential.

Quick question for a mod/admin. Once I get some releases out there, would it be be okay if I provide torrent links to said releases and ONLY those releases which within themselves are legal. The reason being is I don't want to end up paying for filehosting if I don't have to. This is free software after all :P. If this is an issue, I totally understand as torrents are generally associated with piracy, but in this particular scenario, I would like to actually use torrent technology for a completely lawful purpose.
