First things first: Does Vita Save Manager let you backup games ONLY from Mai/Vitamin dumps? I've tried it on the two physical games I own (Final Fantasy X HD, and Metal Gear Solid HD) and keep getting the "Cannot find eject data" error. When i google: vita save manager "cannot find eject data" - ZERO results show up... It seems to be able to backup the saves for two MaiDump games I have installed (of games I own the digital download rights for), so maybe this ONLY works for MaiDump or Vitamin games?

For the process I've tried, I tried the 9 step directions from Hackinformer and they don't work. So I tried YouTube, and there's only 1 single (English) video on there from 3 months ago (which things may have changed since then - I'm using the most recent version from GitHub). So I'm following that video to the "T" and it isn't working for those two games I physically own. Here's the notes I took from watching that video like 10 times...they show how to backup a save game (haven't gotten to try the restoring that backup quite yet...since I can't even get this to work).

TO BACKUP SAVE DATA

Start Save Manager
X to select game
X to confirm “Start save dumper” (quickly loads up game, then switches back to Save Manager)
X on Slot 0
Hit X for backup (to export save games to Slot 0)
O to close window
O again to exit Save Manager
(it then exits Save Manager, but then Save Manager pops back up - hit O to exit again)
Peel corner down to quit Save Manager, do the same for the game, then launch the game)
"Cannot find eject data" error, then after I hit X it automatically boots back into Save Manager...

P.S. A fix I found online says to go into ux0:Patch/ directory and delete the folder without _orig at the end, and then take the _orig out of the other folder. This doesn't work.

Yet another fix says to go to ux0:app/ and do the same deleting/renaming of the .orig eboot files there....but these games (being physical official games I bought on Sony memory 'cartridges' I assume) don't seem to have anything stored in ux0:app/ ....which also leaves me to believe that you can't use Save Manager to backup saves from actual physical games.

***EDIT*** This seems to be ONLY an issue with the nightly from 2/8/2017. Stable version 0.8.0 seems to work fine.

Do you have unsafe homebrew enabled?
Last time I used it taihen didn't exist and this was for my bought game Digimon Cyber Sleuth, so maybe this could work.

Somebody actually wrote me back last night on their GitHub. This seems to be ONLY an issue with the nightly from 2/8/2017. Stable version 0.8.0 seems to work fine. Thank you for the reply though.

And while I'm posting, if it'll help anybody out, here's the quite simple directions (my notes) on how to restore a save game you backed up:

TO BACKUP SAVE DATA
-Start Save Manager
-X to select game
-X to confirm “Start save dumper” (quickly loads up game, then switches back to Save Manager)
-X on Slot 0
-Hit X for Export (to export save games to Slot 0)
-O to close window
-O again to exit Save Manager
-it then exits Save Manager, but then Save Manager pops back up - hit O to exit again
-Peel corner down to quit Save Manager, do the same for the game, then launch the game

This whole things are confusing.. Why is it explanations for these things are always vague..

Like I run save manager, choose my game then a a bunch of numbers pop up. Would be nice to have a guide on how to actually use the programs.

Download and install Vitasavemgr (it's a .VPK).

It's a simple homebrew that makes unencrypted backups of your save files. Very easy to use, and it works correctly on FWs 3.60, 3.65, 3.67 and 3.68. It works perfectly for NoNpDrm dumps, Vita cartridges and digital games (there's really no difference between those), and it should work on most Maidump versions if you are still using that for whatever reason.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
