I don't think there's that much need for such power in handheld games just yet, what matters more is how the experience is crafted. They should have not bothered with the back touch thingies to reduce costs.
I don't think its too powerful, its the right amount of a step up after the PSP and also it needed to be more powerful (not just graphically but in other things) than the 3DS otherwise it wouldn't really have much else to say for itself other than being Sony's new handheld.
The technical minimum is pretty low, actually. Sheer screen resolution is not a good basis for comparison. You know how much processing power it takes a handheld to render at the Vita's screen resolution?
The touch thing costs $5 tops, it's probably one of the least expensive features on the console. Dropping that wouldn't have saved them much (except in the design/R&D stages). They should have not bothered with the back touch thingies to reduce costs.

BS, it's not going to be one of the biggest flops ever, definitely not. They really need it
The Device is just no selling if this continue it will be one of the biggest flops ever.

Oh.
But I'd rather they package a 4GB card with the console at the same price.
However, I doubt this. Kaz himself says that he wasn't hopeful of a price drop, but he wants to rely on software.
