well...I followed the guide and everything worked well, but that's only when the video file was small. I converted 4 videos( about 30-90mb) and they all worked and look good.

When I tried to convert a movie (700mb), BatchDPG(v1.3 beta 5 multithreaded) couldn't even get past the transcoding audio... anyone know what the problem is?

I have little problem with conversion . Normally when I convert film that is on fullscreen with subtitles (by bathdpg) the subtitles embedded with batchdpg are quite large and visible on my ds lite, but when I convert films that are wide (with two black bars on the top and on bottom) the subtitles embedded with batchdpg are coming very small and hard to read, how could i fix that ?
Is there a way to fix that (I use fulscren setings for moonshell from this post).

Following yee's tutorial, I've successfully converted an episode of anime (CLANNAD), and quality is fine (though I can't really see any difference between this and using 1.2 with firon's old tute).
Skipping forward and backward is super fast now (no waiting for frame search) and image is clear on jump (no remaining image blocks from before jump) but I've found something quite annoying: after jumping, the sound and video becomes out of sync, somewhere in the region of 5-10 seconds. Does anyone know what's causing this? It only happens when I jump to parts of video, and not if I simply watch it all the way though normally. I used the recommended settings given by yee for fullscreen video.

When I try to download BatchDPG from the link provided, it comes up with a box saying invalid torrent file.

Sorry if this has been answered/solved already...

Try downloading it direct. It looks like you are trying to download a BitTorrent file rather than BatchDPG itself

One place I found it...
http://ls5.citizendeleted.com/?Download

Search google for 'batchdpg' you'll find it.

I recently bought an app called DVDFab Platinum. It will convert DVD's directly to NDS DPG format without messing with all the interim steps when using freeware apps. Though... thats where the big issues lies. Freeware is free. DVDFab is not. I had other uses for the program beyond making DPG's, so I was able to justify it to myself.

The UI is pretty neat though, and I love the little video preview pane.

The end result is both files that work... paying for a commercial app only adds some extra convenience and may make conversion a bit faster.

I have one big problem. I've the files in all the right places, but everytime I try to start the cnonversion, I get a message that it was unable to start because MSVCP71.dll was missing. What should I do?

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
