So recently been configuring a Portable usb drive (would use a hard drive but real broke right now) and have been getting everything ready to use it with my wii and USBLoaderGX. I placed all the games in their proper folders and threw that into my wii. When i loaded it, the usb was recognized, but none of my games showed up, i then tried to install a game (NSMBW) from disc to the the usb and it gave me the error message above, saying I had 0.00GB of free space.
I'm not sure why this is happening, I scanned the drive and it showed no errors, It's Formatted to NTFS right now, and it shows i still have 12GB left.
Anyone know how to fix this?

UPDATE: I reinstalled USBLoaderGX and reformatted my usb to fat32 and it says my usb has -0.00Gb storage left? and my copy of NSMBW has 0.00gb of data. The game works fine through the regular disc loader, but it will not install to my usb for whatever reason.

So, as you probably know, flash drives aren't ideal for this blah blah blah, but since you're broke, we'll see what we can do.

1)Your cIOS in slot 249 needs to be changed to whats in slot 250, beta53 alt is the newest, so lots of people recommend it, but it's not good.

2)Games need to be in a certain format to be played/recognized by USB Loader GX/other loaders. It's like this
wbfs/Game Name [GAMEID]/GAMEID.wbfs
wbfs/Super Smash Bros Brawl [RSBE01]/RSBE01.wbfs
The program Wii Backup Manager does this for you

3)You might as well try all 3 formats, NTFS, FAT32, WBFS since you're using a flash drive. WBFS seems to work "better" with flash drives.
FAT32- 4gb limit per file (wii backup manager splits files for you too) ideal format, can play gamecube as well. Try this 1st
NTFS- No file limit, No gamecube games. Try this 2nd
WBFS- Wii Backup Manager formats the drive this way. You can't put anything else on the drive, and it can only be read by the Wii and Wii Backup Manager. Try this 3rd

4)The main reason your disc won't backup to the USB is, flash drives are really, really bad in that situation. Not even worth trying anymore and risking frying the drive

So tldr; change your cIOS in slot 249, follow this guide. Don't follow the pictures when its time to put the settings in, follow the text. (the picture shows the bad cIOS)
After that's changed, format the USB to Fat32 first, put a game on with Wii Backup Manager, test. If it works, yay. If it doesn't, format to the next format, test.

Thanks for responding, especially this late.

1)First off, tried just changing the cIOS to what you recommended and using the setup i had before. no change

2)then, i went and put all my stuff on Wii backup manager (even got a new download for fortune street, my test gme, even though it works perfectly in dolphin) tried again, nothing

3) I did all my testing with a Fortune street NA .wbfs file
(reformated) Fat 32; as expected, same effect as before, except NSMBW has a normal amount of data again (yay?)
NTFS; Would not initialize the drive, even though it wouldn't give the 20 seconds during bootup to insert a usb device, instead breezing right past it
WBFS: Same effect as the NTFS format

4) Funny thing about that is that earlier today, my usb WAS loading all the wbfs files, but I was getting the black screen crash for all my games EXCEPT the NSMBW i had installed FROM DISK

TL;DR
I'm going to try some other loaders tomorrow morning to see how they work, because Illuminaticy's suggestions didn't really do anything,
but I still appreciate the help.

also, here's what i know about my usb and what i've done with it so far if that helps too.

It's a Lexar 16Gb Usb 3.0 Flash drive with a 130mb/s read speed max and a 25mb/s max write speed.
The usb was Write locked when i first started trying to use it for this wii. So i had to mess around with it, eventually plenty of different guides i found online to give it write access. The method that worked (low level format+regular disk management formatting) led me to a FAT32 usb drive with read and write access.
Before that, i had the .wbfs show up in USBLoaderGX, (see 4), after that I took The USBLoaderGX folder off of my SD, and got a new download, bringing me to where I was when I first posted.

EDIT:
tried some new things, results were interesting.

New usb, 4Gb, SUPER SLOW write speed, it maxed out at 5mb/s, but doesn't. Formated the new drive same as the previous, nad like i expected, it didn't work. Then i went to homebrew browser to download and install a random game, and I couldn't find them within the wii. When i brought them back to my pc, The games were in the usb, but could not open them in Homebrew Channel.
Then I took my original usb (formatted to fat 32 now), put a gamecube game on there (Which i tested, worked on my sd card.) loaded it through nintendon't and that worked, then went to USBloader
and here's the interesting part
Loader went through just like in 3) and similarly the game wouldn't show up. it was invisible to USBLoaderGX, even though it had all my gamecube games that were on my sdhc card displayed. I go to the hard drive settings to see the partition, it was showing Unknown (871.57 GB) MORE THAN 50 TIMES THE SIZE OF MY USB STICK
so they're obviously some weird interactions going on with my USB and USBLoaderGX, I will check back tomorrow
