Hacking usb loaders

yes because the wii only reads fat16 which has a limit of 4 gb a file so plain and simple yes

what the Wii is able to read depends on the application you try to read with... Geexbox also reads NTFS! But Waninkoko clearly didn`t wanted to use FAT or NTFS; so he and Kwiirk came up with WBFS...

actually geexbox loads ntfs because geexbox starts a version of linux (that can read ntfs) then load the media player thats why geexbox takes so long to load. You can't load the usb loader on linux because you need to go to wii mode. thats why they came up with wbfs

Yeah, you would need some kind of program... there are already several around

I recommend the wbfs manager

Jap, you would always have to access the formatted hd through the wbfs-program, which is not a bad thing. But if you want to use your hd with mediaplayer or your windows-pc you probably should make a partition for wbfs first

You can use the program I suggested some posts ago or the Wiis USBLoader... But I would use the pc-program

On my Vista it doesn`t work... But on my other xp-pc the program does work and I heard of some people, who expirienced the same thing the other way around... So I really can`t tell, why it does not work with my vista-pc but normally it should! The best thing is, just to try it out

just so you know, if you change it to WBFS, you will lose everything on the HDD

I formated a partition of my usb drive to wfbs format uploaded a couple of isos and when i use it in the usb loader it still doesnt work! why?

Dude, go here and check to see if your drive is supported, someone may have left some notes on how to get it working.

You need to tell us what firmware, region, usb loader, etc. you are using. And also what you are doing and what you mean by "doesn't work" - what is not working?

I am firmware 4.0 NTSC wii and am using THIS loader. I looked it up in the drive list and it says it works in usb loader but i dont quite understand how to get the wii to read my partition in my drive.

Also what i mean by doesn't work is that it keeps saying no usb device found even though it says it WORKS and i have no idea how to get it working



EDIT forgot to mention my drive is a Seagate FreeAgent GO 320 GB

a problem may be that you're using one based off of 1.1 try this one
ultimate loader

and this is a forwarder for that one
