Alright, I think I am close to being able to play. I just need to know one more thing: How do I save the games onto a drive in Wii Backup Manager? (Formatted it to FAT32 as you said, Cyan)

EDIT: NVM, figured it out.

Open the wbfs file or ISO file under the files tab, go to drive 1 select your usb drive letter, go back to the files tab place a check mark to the left of the game, click transfer, then click drive 1. Wait and enjoy

Did everything I've been told. USB Loader still says "No USB Drive found. Switching to channel mode" or something along those lines. :hateit:

Don't think your problem is the main focus of this thread, because it isn't. It isn't original since many people (including me) had/have problems, too.

Just sayin'.

is your drive externally powered, or using USB to get its power?
if it's USB only, did you used an USB Y-cable?

Like I said, WiiU need one.
WiiU hardware is not like Wii hardware. Being in a "Wii sandbox" doesn't change the way hardware is working in the console.

Hi! Excuse me if these are noob questions but I'm a little lost in the USB Loader GX settings. Can you tell me what is the best video mode to use. And if you have a link where are explained all the patches (patch video sneek, fraud and vidtv). Thank you very much and again sorry if these questions have already been asked! I also want to know if I forces 60hz on a 50hz game if it will start in 60hz.

best setting is "game default" (or Disc default, I always forget the correct name), which is used to automatically set the console to the same region than the game you are playing.
If your Wii is in 480p NTSC and you launch a PAL game, the loader will set the console to PAL 480p
if your Wii is in 480i PAL and you launch a NTSC game, the loader will set the console to NTSC 480i
etc.
It uses the correct region while keeping the progressive/interlaced setting.

The patches are a little more harder to explain.
- VIDTV : I don't know what it does, sorry. It was there from the start, and I never had to use it.

- Sneek video patch : it's a method to patch video mode for imported games used by Sneek. I think only one game required it, I don't remember which one. So we added it to the loader just to let users select it.

- dol Video patch :
This one patch the list of video modes located in the main.dol of the game.
When you launch the game, the Wii check the compatible video modes found in the main.dol and choose the best one based on your current video mode.

If you set video mode to "force 480p" and launch the game, the wii is set to 480p, then the game launches and the console check the compatible video modes from the game. If it finds 480p then the console stays in 480p.
If the game doesn't have 480p in its list, the console goes back to one of the best match from the list (480i, 576i etc.)

"Dol Video patch" setting is a way to edit the content of main.dol to insert/replace your own video modes in the list.
If the game doesn't have 480p (for example Mario Party 8, Moto GP8, Mad World, etc.), you can add that mode in the list. When you launch the game, the wii will see 480p in the compatible video modes and will stay in 480p.

So if i understood well, it's better to activate the patch dol? I'll be able to play games like Mario Party 8 in 480p despite the fact that the games is natively compatible just with 480i? If yes it's better to activate "ON" or "ALL"? Once again thank you very much for your help!

I found a really good video setting for pal 50hz games set video mode to region patch the set dol video patch to all

This worked wonders in dragon ball z budokai tenkaichi 3 pal, if force NTSC is set the resolution is too big if you use pal60 it is still to big but if you region patch the video mode it plays at 60hz and a smaller then the screens resolution but only by a tiny bit it's hardly noticeable.

ON replaces video modes known by the loader (we have a little list of know video modes in libogc/loaders, USBLoaderGX recognize 32 different videos modes).
But some games are using weird video format (like Moto GP 8, a sort of 240p), and if you patch only known video modes it's not enough to force 480p as the game prefer its odd format.

so I added a "ALL" option which detects even unknown video modes based on the usual pattern used by videos modes.
But it's possible that the "ALL" setting also detects other and wrong data matching the two bytes the search engine is looking for, resulting in bug/game not booting.

I guess ALL is a good setting for most games.
If you encounter a game not working, disable the Dol patcher setting.
Also, note that some games can't be forced (Mad World PAL can't be forced in 480p even with the dol patcher, while Mad World USA can).

There's also the possibility to let the user configure the video himself (Like I said, there exist 30+
known video modes, and only 5 are selectable by the user in the loader). it could be possible to let the user specify its own format/width/height/scanline/AA/etc.

It's not implemented, but it's possible.

I wouldn't suggest putting all of those settings in. Unless you add another menu to the per game settings menu for fixing specific video issues.
Also last year when you posted the patch descriptions someone asked you to put a button in the homebrew section to switch from SD homebrews to USB, I think this would benefit a lot of users, I personally would like to see that feature brought to life

The homebrew browser ?
I still haven't worked on that part yet, but adding a setting for SD and/or USB could be easy, just a path to edit.
I add it to my suggestion list.

I wanted to merge homebrew directly in the loader, as channels, but I didn't had time to do that.
I will be in holidays 2 weeks in august, but I'll try to update things I listed in the blog (link in my sign).

I thought about having it merged into the main part of the loader myself and unless you do an overhaul and re-design the GUI it will get cluttered and may look bad.
I tried it in wiiflow and when you have a lot of titles it's slow and cluttered. It really isn't visually appealing at all

The patch is temporary or it patch the main.dol once for all? If now I'm using these settings: "Video Mode" on disc default, the wii system settings in 480p and "Dol Video Patch" to ALL it's good? It will use the 480p I set on the main menu settings of the Wii?
