OK. So for now, if I take the configuration file and delete all individual game settings, it will take the proper rating from gametdb?
It's OK if I lose my individual game configs, since I probably only have only one or two. Default config works fine for almost all of my games (except for the parental control bit, of course).

Does the loader work fine when launched from the homebrew channel?

did you already install successfully a wad file on your Wii? Maybe you don't have what is needed.
Did you follow a softmod guide and installed cIOS? or added homebrew channel only without cIOS?

you can post a syscheck log so we can see what is installed or missing. there's a link to syscheck in my signature.

syscheck seems fine (hard to dear without spaces and new lines).

You have the correct cIOS (a little old, it's v7, but it's fine).
I guess it's a problem due to your Wad Manager then.

When the Wad manager ask you which IOS you want to use, don't tell him 58, but 236.

It's first checking if there's an individual game setting. If you have one, it's using the Parental level set in that setting.
If there's no individual game setting, it's using Wiitdb data.

The problem is in the Individual game setting creation, it's always set to 0 (Everyone) by default.
Delete game setting, and it will use the correct level from Wiitdb.

I guess I'll add that fix to ma fixlist.

There's no batch for reseting the control level.
What do you mean by "delete the game setting"?
I've tried selecting "reset to default" inside the game config screen, then checking the GXGameSettings.cfg file to make sure the game is not there anymore, and it still doesn't use the parental control level from gametdb. It still shows up when I lock the GUI.

That's what I meant, "Reset game Config".
That's strange that it doesn't work, if there's no individual game settings it's using the value from wiitdb.xml to display/hide games from the list.

I can try to debug it. which game doesn't follow its level?
Geist and Eternal Darkness: I don't have them to test.
Resident Evil games: all of them? I have Resident Evil 4.
Did you find a pattern for the non working games?

- are they PAL only?
- are they NTSC only?
- Japanese only? (as it's using a different system and number)

- If you change the level to Everyone, are they still displayed?
are they always displayed (level 0 for all games), or are they hidden past a certain level? (wrong level repored)

I did lot of tests and everything is working fine with parental level detection.

only thing I noticed is that sometime, Wiitdb is not loaded correctly.
The games are not renamed, and in that case it's always returning a wrong value.
might be because my SD slot is worn/old. too many reinsert to test homebrew.

Dang! What could I be doing wrong...
Did Resident Evil 4 (Wii) hide for you correctly when locking the interface?
Does the parental control level in the game's setting screen show a value that matches the gametdb file?
I'll summarize tonight what games don't work for me.

About the card re-insterts, I've always used WiiXplorer to transfer files from my PC to my Wii through SMB. It is very effective at this and I hardly ever take the card out of the Wii, unless I'm going to do massive transfers.

I didn't find my RE4, might be on another partition.

There's effectively a problem with parental control, but on the other way.
If you set a game level 0, but in the wiitdb it's 2 or 3, it will take the Wiitdb value instead of yours.

But if you increase the value compared to wiitdb, then it's correctly hidden.
You can only hide kid games from kids, but not allow adult games.
I can fix that, but it can break some user's parental setting.

as default individual setting is "Parental level 0", if users changed some setting without noticing the parental level, it's set a "Everyone".
Currently, an adult game is correctly hidden to kids, even if it's set to 0.

I can give you a built with some debug logs.
do you have an usbgecko?

I don't have an usbgecko.
I'll help in any way you need me to, but don't change anything if I'm the only one with this problem, as I can get around it by simply blocking the games I don't want available to my kids. I came to you because I thought it might be a legitimate bug but it would be unfair to you to add to your workload by chasing unimportant items.
I really appreciate your work on GX so far.

You don't want to add more work to me, but I couldn't stop thinking about it!

I fixed both parental settings:
- Default game setting's Parental level is now set to the GameTDB value.
- Fixed displaying games with a lower rating than GameTDB value (you need to check all your games, if you have games with level 0 it will be displayed to the kids!)

I should really post revision more often.

That's awesome.
I can't wait to try it.
I can identify with obsessing over little details.
Thanks!!

Thank you for your responses and indications, themanuel and Cyan! I had tried hiding games previously by setting their categories to "X", but didn't know that you had to do the same to "All", so I thought there was a bug in the app.

if you choose to see "All" games, that's normal that all of them are displayed.

That's why I added a "All except the forbidden categories" status, which is the "All [X]".

@ takuto:
I don't know about this. I never tried it.
Might be because japanese titles are UTF16? (I don't know, just a supposition).

Yep, but the CFG Loader show kanji names.
