System menu shouldn't matter, 4.2 works fine. If you've just upgraded then usbloader might be getting stuck trying to load an ios that has been stubbed out.
What have you done since it last worked?
I didn't use my Wii in a while, but I'm actually at 4.1 because my brother accidentally updated. I did go through trucha bug restorer and all that, but that was when 4.1 came out. Haven't updated since, the only things I've done are install cIOS249 v19 and Hermes v5, then I downgraded to v4 and still no luck.
Is wdm file support going to be added (WDM are currently supported in NeoGamma and CFG loader)? WDM files are used for IOS reloading games with multiple alternate dol files. For instance, if you were to select Sam and Max season 1, a menu would pop up with the following options:

Episode 2
Episode 3
Episode 4
Episode 5
Episode 6

Games with multiple alternate dol include Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Sam and Max Season 1, Sam and Max Season 2.

I hope the wdm file support will added soon. Would be a serious disadvantage compared to other usb loader. (cfg loader). In recent times, hardly updates come out. If work is still active on usbloader gx, or you can soon expect an end of the project... or just vacation? I hope not because I personally find the usbloader gx is the best loader.
To talk about the backup loader, what do you guys think the next big thing for USB loader GX? What could they possibly add at this time? Do we have something to look forward to?
Until USB LOADER GX is updated to allow to play from FAT Hard Disk with HERMES CIOS V5, I suggest the following :
-1-HERMES V5 Installation :
ios202 -> Use ios 60
ios222 -> Use ios 38
ios223 -> Use ios 37
ios224 -> As you want (not really required)...
-2-Removal of ios222 with Anytitle Deleter Mod 6b
-3-HERMES V4 Installation
ios222 only -> Use ios 38 merged 37
-4-USB LOADER GX can be started with the following global setting :
FAT & CIOS 222 (so we have FAT working thanks to HERMES V4 compatibility with USB
LOADER GX).
-5-GUITARE HERO 5 START SETTING :
CIOS 223
So we keep HERMES V5 function that allows to save imported musics to SD card while
that's not possible (or very tricky with HERMES V4) as it goes automatically to WII
memory which becomes full quickly.
We also keep the possibility to use CIOS 249 and have access to a WBFS partition.
Hi all i have a problem and im not sure if its connected to usb loader gx ,hdd or my cios.
Ive had my 1 tb hard drive for around 6 months with a 500gb wbfs partition and a fat 32 partition of 500gb.
Only really use my wbfs partition which has work perfectly with every game untill now, usb loader gx loads up like normal and i can click on all my games, Then either at the menu screen of the game, or randomly during the game it just crashes.
I've gone back to what i no works.( hermes v4or v5 222 not sure if i upgraded to v5 thinking about it. cios 249 rev 14 and usb loader gx 883) still the same issues.
If i delete the game and reinstall it via disk drive it works again so im thinking my drive is corrupt.
I have the same issues if i use neo gamma r8 so i no it probably not usb loader gx, but i think something happened writing a game to the hard drive via install option on a beta. correct me if I'm wrong please.
I dont think iv upgraded to hermes v5 but im not sure, so im hoping this is the issue. would this be a known bug in v5? I've read a few pages but didnt see anything about this.
If anyone can give me advice id be greatful thanks
tried hermes v4 still same issues. tatsunoko vs capcom crashes on the main menu with the pal version,But the ntsc version works.

I've got a fat32 hdd, when i load any game it freezes on a black screen....and must press down the power button for 3 secs.... but when i format the hdd to ntfs it works perfectly with all games.... why this?
Am I correct in my thinking that if I set the following in "USB Loader GX" (Rev 921):
Installl Partitions = All partitions
Install 1:1 Copy = Yes
Then if I install a game onto a USB device the 'image' should be the equal of that produced by dumping tools such as "SuperDump"?. Obviousy "USB Loader GX" will produce a .WBFS file (maybe even a .WBF1 file as well).
I ask because my expectation was that if I then used something like "Wii Backup Manager" to convert the WBFS into an ISO I should be able to use Windows 'FC' to compare the produced file with an ISO I've previously created using SuperDump or IMGBurn (from a DVD copy).
Using FC doesn't give a file match, instead listing page after page of differences mainly (only) showing "FF 00".
Anyone explain if my thinking should be correct, and thus guide me as to where I'm going wrong. The "FF 00" would make me think that somewhere the WBFS files have been scrubbed (that's purely a guess).
Are you trying to play PAL games on an NTSC TV? If so, not all flat panel NTSC TVs accept PAL signal even with component cables. Try changing the game load setting for video to Force NTSC.
