Hm... I was having a code dump when trying to download covers from wi-fi using version 1.0. Then I thought it could be because I had no folder to keep the covers. Is that possible? I'm unable to test it right now...

You can define the cover path in the settings, but the folders need to exist already

So that was probably the cause for the code dump? Hah... So simple and I was going nutz just to figure it out XP

Thanks! Gonna try that later!

Why can't I see who's reading the thread? Is this some setting from here or I made some change on my user cp? I've been messing with it so I don't really know... :/

That is totally wrong. You can set up as many subfolders as you want in your coverpath and discimagepath the loader is gonna create them ITSELF AUTOMATICLY right after you press YES on download.

I cant exactly say why you got a codedump but its not because of folders. Usually it is because LAN adapter is set up. (It is not supported and will be in the next cIOS249 Rev11)

Also you need to set the folder right in the options. You are not allowed to forget an / like:

SD:/images/

I'll try it tonight and then write down the code dump to post it here... I did not mess with the settings on the loader, so it is set to default. It didn't create a folder either... The Wiimote just rumbles and I get the dump :/

Also, I'm using wi-fi, so it's not the LAN adapter...

tried putting on cios rev 9 and the covers don't show up in 1.5 now so i'll just stick with 10 and wait for 11
didn't try ripping any games though
also you probably already know but the settings screens a bit messed up in r326
(third page is same as 2nd page and if you go to enter password to unlock things go a bit funky and hard to read)

edit: actually just read that cios36 rev11 is in softmii2.9.5.zip downloading it now... should i try getting the installer out of that or just wait?

@--JoCa-- You need to check your settings maybe you used an earlier version of the Loader and the old config files messed up your Loader.

If the Loader didnt create a folder than your SD might have been locked. If so you need to make the SD "writeable" (the little switch on the side of sd-card).

The download didnt even start if the folders are not created.

- Could you add an option in cfg for path of cfg

?
I thought about this earlier today. I thought so hard it made my head hurt.
The trouble with this is that it needs a config to tell it where the cfg path is. If you want to save your settings in SD:/assclown/fartbreath/ How will the loader know to look there? It's the chicken and the egg situation. There has to be a path coded into the app. Either that, or it scans the entire SD card looking for the config file.
Very true... My suggestion... It would be nice if the Loader would write the "global_settings.cfg" file, in the same directory the "boot.dol" file is being loaded from. Then, in the Settings Screen, there could be a setting called "Custom CFG", which would then copy the "global_settings.cfg" file to a defined location. This way, people that are just using USB Loader GX will have a "clean" SD Card, and people using a boot loader, such as Preloader, could still use the custom path they need!

I hope this isn't too confusing! Please ask me, if you have any questions!

=)

omg dont you guys get it? HOW THE HELL SHOULD THERE BE A DOL FOLDER WHEN THE DOL IS LOADED THROUGH CHANNEL? THERE IS NO DOL FOLDER WHEN ITS LOADED THROUGH A CHANNEL/FORWARDER/PRELOADER.

oh my god i give up the explaining.....

EDIT:oops actually there is when loading through forwarder. But not if you load through Channel/Preloader/TCPLoad/Elf Sender

Relax dimok, it's bad for you health to get frustrated about this, just edit the first page that the config stays where it is and dont answer the request anymore, people have to learn to read the first page

I think i am just gonna move the freaken config folder to "sd:/apps/usbloader_gx/config/" so that people stop complaining. After that it stays there.

I hope you dont, i have a nice forwarder now that could not be used any more, just leave it as it is now

Well, i could just use the config from there and leave the dol where it is now (couldn't I?)

Yes; we get it. The .DOL is loaded from the NAND, when using a Channel/Forwarder/Preloader. But when you are using HBC, there is a definite folder! So, as long as you launch it from the Homebrew Channel, for the first run to configure the "Custom CFG" location, you could then have the "global_settings.cfg" file anywhere you want! So if Preloader needs it in "SD:/config/", you run USB Loader GX ONCE in HBC, set the custom path, then you never have to run it again from HBC (if you don't want to).

I'm not trying to upset you. I'm just trying to solve this so we stop hearing all the complaints. I'm a little biased, but I think this idea is the best, so far!

Sorry... I must be confusing you all... My suggestion would still allow you to use your Channel/Forwarder/Preloader/...etc!

So basicly you are saying that the loader should set at the first run the configpath right???

Did you think of how the hell the loader should know on the second run that the configpath was moved? He cant just search the damn whole SD Card for the file.

Somehow he needs to know where the configfiles are......he cant just know out of himself that the configpath was moved (he needs to load it of the config file to find out it was moved).

I would steer away from this. Several people have had problems with underscores ("_") in their paths. Just read several pages back.
