Just a thought, have you gone in and checked to see if there is any unallocated space on the drive? I have had small intermittent issues when this happens and maybe GX is just being a little extra picky about it.
There isn't, I formatted the entire thing to be FAT32, I checked already with EASEUS partition manager a while ago, its set as primary, etc.

does anyone know how the wii u gamepad configuration works with USBLoaderGX related injections?

My right analog stick keeps spazzing out, but only in Wii injections.
It works fine in both Nintendont and Wii U retail injections.

(this is when the game is set to classic controller emulation on the gamepad)

Hmmm, got me. I haven't tried that WD drive, but if it works on the others loaders not sure why GX is having an issue with it.

@blackb0x I'm trying to run a version of USB Loader GX build from your fork (branch temp, commit e25a4e1) and it crashes when disabling the filter (the icon on the far left). Your repo does not allow creating issues. Are you going to enable this feature?

@ukigh4ie Yea, I'm aware of that one. It's why I haven't pushed everything to the enhanced branch yet. It's difficult for me to debug the issue though as the crash info links to libogc and the crash only occurs once.

I haven't enabled issue reports on GitHub since my build is unofficial and I don't want to receive bug reports about long-standing issues that require major rewrites. Pull requests are welcome though and if you've got a bug to report then you can always send me a private message.

Hi all! I need some expert help with Wii hacking and USB loader GX. I have followed the guide at wii.guide and entered the IOS as the guide says. Anyways, the wii displays all the games, but i can only play GC games. Every time i try to play a Wii game, the screen fades to black and i have to restart my console. Any help would be appriciated PM or just answer here - thanks in advance

So is blackb0x's mod the one we should be using from now on until Cyan comes back and updates USB Loader GX himself? I'm hacking a Wii U for a friend and I haven't done this in a while so I am trying to read up on everything I've missed and make sure I have the latest and greatest of everything I put on it. I was just going to try it out anyway but I noticed there are 2 versions of his mod. One that looks like the regular mod and another that looks like it's a tab mod. Any advice on which one I should use or point me to where I can read about the differences myself and make my decision that way? Thank you.

So while I was waiting for a response I decided to try out Blackb0x's Tab Mod and I'm setting everything up through that. I used it to create an EmuNand and am now trying to batch install WADs to it. However, USB Loader GX seems to freeze while installing the titles and it seems to not be consistent as to when it decides it wants to freeze. I know this typically happens on thumb drives but I am using a Western Digital MyBook Essential 1TB drive and I'm pretty sure I have used this drive in the past without problems. Just curious if anything had changed throughout the various revisions that would explain why this is happening? I mean it's possible that it's my drive and I know I can easily install WADs using showmiiwads. But this is also freezing when trying to download covers. Same thing as in it seems to be inconsistent about where it wants to freeze. Is there a way to download all the covers and custom banners to my PC and then transfer them over to my drive that way? I know Wii Backup Manager kinda does this when installing Wii Games so I was hoping for another method that is just as easy for my installed GameCube and EnuNand games. Thanks.

@Clutz450 The version you're using adds tabs to the top of the screen. It only supports widescreen TVs and I don't yet know if I'll continue to maintain it since it's not something that I personally use.

I know that when using IOS 58 the Wii might randomly become unresponsive. I've already fixed the issue for my next release, but you can do it now by simply changing the loaders IOS to 249 and then rebooting.

I'll be releasing an update during the weekend that adds some features and fixes some bugs.

Thank you for your reply. Changing the Loader IOS to 249 seemed to do the trick. Should I now change the loader back to IOS 58? Is there any reason why I shouldn't keep the loader as IOS 249? Thank you.

As long as your Games are loading correct,249 is ok.
It was the "Original" One that was used before @Cyan made some Changes in USBLoader GX r1272 and changed it to 58.
Some Wii Configurations/USB Device Combinations works better with 58,some with 249.
And unfortunately some completely not..:(

Thank you.:)

Yeah, I remember way back when he had like 3 USB Loader GX versions and each one was for a different cIOS.

exactly, we used to have one with 222 as default IOS slot, one with 249 and one with 250.
I ended releasing only 249 for a while (while still generating all three just in case someone requested it, but never happened).

I made r1272 with default IOS slot set to 58 after seeing so much users asking how to fix their drive not recognized at launch. switching to 58 manually helped, so I set it by default and .... lot of users came asking how to fix their HDD not detected anymore, and they fixed it using 249... haha, so, there's no real ultimate choice :P

try one or the other and use the one which work for you :)

note that 1272 has been reported few times having some bugs. you should use r1271, or Blackb0x mod version instead.

Hey guys, I need help with my USB loader GX. It's the same problem with many in the form but I feel like I've missed something.

Downloaded Skyward Sword last week, got it to work.
After I downloaded nintendont, everytime I try to start the game, it just kicks me back to homebrew.
I'm using IOS 58 as loader btw

Tried reinstalling CIOS (tried v8 on IOS 249, then went back to v10) - nothing works.
Physical disc games still work.
USB loader GX often system dumps on start.

Thanks in advance for any help I get!

Which Base did you use for your cIOS for Slot 249 please ? 56 or 57 ?
(Maybe a sysCheck is also a good Idea.:))
Here is a GBAtemp Manual to help you:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/posting-a-system-check.300279/

Which Version/Release from the USBLoader GX do you have please ?
Which Type/Kind (regular or microSD with Adapter) of SD Card and Size do you use please ?
(I think you are booting your Homebrew/Loader from the SD Card ?)
How did you transfer your Games to your USB Device please ?

Which Type of USB "Device" do you have please an how is it formatted please ?
Your USB Device is connected to Port 0 ?

Thank you for your Help.:)

Thank you for your Informations and your sysCheck. It looks all fine and ok.:)

For your HDD I am pretty sure you meant NTFS.:)
It is also ok.

Very nice.
It makes it now a little harder to find the Issue....all your Points on the Checklist are ok.
Did your other downloaded Games are working ?

So maybe some Things you can try if you like:

If you have (and I am sure you have) the Priiloader installed, did you also have installed the Forwarder Channel for the USBLoader GX or did you boot the Loader directly from the Homebrew Channel ?
You said it shows sometimes a "DSi Error Message" when you start the Loader....

You can maybe try and delete the Setting File in the "apps/usbloader_gx" Folder or completely delete and download/install it again.Maybe some File(s) are corrupted...
Please do not use the Update Option, make the Installation manually please.:)

I do not really think it has to do with the Version/Release but to get sure, please be so kind and also try r1271 or r1268.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/usbloadergx/files/Releases/New revisions (3.0+)/

Good Luck.
Thank you.:)

I only have two games downloaded, but both aren't working so I think the problem is with USBLoader GX itself.

I boot the loader directly from HomeBrew, even though I have Priiloader installed.

I always wanted to try reinstalling usbloader gx but I'm afraid it will brick the system. So following your advice, I can just delete the entire folder and reinstall right? (And I may have updated it through the option so maybe that's part of the problem too.)

Thanks again! I was working on this the whole day so I kinda fell asleep while figuring out what to do.

You can delete the a File or the Folder "usbloader_gx" inside the "apps" on your SD Card.
That will brick nothing,no worries.:)
You can try to boot up your Wii without SD Card into the Wii Menu and go into the Homebrew Channel.
You will see,it is ok,but no Applications there.

An other Thing is,if you have installed a File to boot directly (USBLoader GX for Example),that could be maybe a "Problem".But nothing really serious,if you have Priiloader and/or BootMii (as IOS) installed.:)

If you have Questions or feeling unsure, please ask.:)

Thank you.:)
