Hacking USB Loader GX. "USB Device Not Initialized"

I know this is an obvious and stupid post, but I can't seem to get my USB device initialized when booting up GX. Here's the syscheck if you need it

This maybe silly but do you have the drive in the right port? On the wii its the bottom port (the one closest to the edge, Wii u its the back top port. Are you using a flash drive? If so thats most likely the problem. If using a harddrive do you have external power? Either plugged into the wall or with a Y-cable to both usb ports? Id everything formated to Fat 32 with 32 kb clusters?

Yeah, right spot, bottom port, FAT 32, but yes, it is a flash drive. From the many sources I've read though, I thought that you could use a flash drive.

flash drives are notorious for being inconsistent. They work and they don't. There's just too many headaches
