A new update, a new theme -- the computer from the past.

Download Here
v2.01

Important! This is a theme made for the new update!
Please visit the
official thread and update your loader!

I am back, I could not resist! Here is a new theme and this time it is made for the new update to the loader. This is my first complete theme, meaning everything has been themed and adjusted! That of course includes custom background music, click, and home menu sounds. Go ahead and check it all out!

  • Yes, this theme is widescreen compatible; the first attachment is widescreen. As always, some UI elements may be slightly different than what you see in 4:3.

  • Some TV's can have really bad overscan. If your image appears to be cropped, you can try adjusting your TV's overscan settings or setting a negative overscan value within the loader's GUI settings (try -13)

  • The font scale in these screenshots is set at 0.8 and I strongly suggest you do the same.

  • Saturation, brightness, contrast and hue all depend on your TV (and the screen you are using right now). All screenshots are captured with the Wii and are edited as best as possible.

There are some alternative click sounds included. Choose which you want and place both of it's audio files inside the proto theme folder, replacing the old. You can also remove all audio files from the theme folder if you prefer the default loader sounds and music.

Last, but not least, I do plan to make a Tron blue version! Done! (#7DFDFE)
And if you are interested--the hex for this green is (#21c70b)

Anyways, enjoy the theme and have fun!

I think this might be THE FIRST custom theme made for the new version of usb loader gx, very cool! Keep 'em coming! :)

I think it might be! I've been so ready to publish (and be that first person) ^_^ I hope it's a good custom theme for the update, for everyone.

Hello, I couldn't help but admire the quality of your themes, could you please share how you make these and any advice to get started on making USB loader GX themes?:)

Hello! I have updated the theme to include a new color! This color is based on Tron, specifically light blue.

Download the new zip to find it. Enjoy!

Edit: I did add a tutorial, if you are reading this.

I haven't tried the theme personally, but are you sure all text is legible on the sub-optimal analogue video output Wii provides? Thin fonts get especially blurry, even the text on screenshots looks hard to read. Red is the worst offender, but I see there's no red theme.

Yes, this has been watched closely during my font selection. This is of course only tested on my one TV.

Saturation, brightness, contrast and hue all depend on your TV (and the screen you are using right now). All screenshots are captured with the Wii and are edited as best as possible.
I wrote this for that reason.

All of the screenshots have been edited to show a true black and less saturation (due to that contrast change.) This fades the text as well as the UI itself slightly. Anyway, it all looks great on my TV so I would assume it will for you too if you have a modern TV.

I am curious how this looks on a smaller CRT though.

Here's the photo, apologies if it took a long time, it obviously looks a lot better in person but it fits the green aesthetic of CRTs pretty well.
I can send more photos if needed (always if I don't forget again:rofl2:)

I said it in the USB Loader GX chat, but I will say it here too, but honestly, this may be a USB Loader GX problem.

There is a bug here that doesn't allow some games like Looney Tunes: Back in Action to start, instead staying in a black screen.

Other than that, this theme is amazing. Keep it up.

So it IS a USB Loader GX problem with too much memory. The next update whenever it comes should hopefully fix it

No. The issue is caused by some themes using large assets. However, since the next loader update uses less memory, it may help mitigate the issue.
