Nope, no changes. No sound or message when I plug the Switch in.

Just tried my parents' laptop as an alternative. No response in Device Manager to the Switch being plugged in on either of the laptop's two ports, and Zadig apparently shows two WebCam options? Must stand for the two USB ports, I'm guessing.

I have a feeling this could be a USB-C issue. Researching the topic right now, but apparently the net is full of complaints about how it's inefficient and sometimes still doesn't function? Perhaps none of my devices support it, or the cable is the wrong one. idk.

Based on your experiences, I imagine it's a problem with the cord. Try a different one.

In the meantime, you can install over FTP using DZ Tinfoil, instead of USB.

Is Zadig actually meant to be installed? The one I downloaded just starts an application that's apparently not anywhere on my PC unless I open it again. I've rebooted my PC a fair number of times since I started trying to get things working; it hasn't helped.

Zadig is a tool to install the libusbk Driver, like TegraRcm.

Here's a Tutorial how to install the Driver:

Hello all.
I had the same problem on my switch, I tested everything (cable, computer...), but I couldn’t get my switch to be detected.
I only found a «composite device» for «Nintendo Switch».

In fact, a few months ago, I tested twili from mission2000. And it was the problem : I removed the title 0100000000006480, and everything worked.
So, my advice : create a new sd card with only atmosphere and Goldleaf.

I suppose noone has any update on this one ?

I can use ns-usbloader over wifi just fine, but USB ? No dice.

Too bad. Changing usb cable etc. makes no change for me either.
RCM'd Switch is recognized just fine, switch in Atmosphere on USB ? Not so much
(Same Win 7 story here)

If the Switch doesn't show up in Device Manager when you plug it in, the cable is probably for charging only. Real USB 3.x Type C cables are quite thick (much thicker than a USB 2.0 cable as there are 24 individual wires inside instead of the usual 5 including shielding) so you can easily tell if a USB-C cable is fully featured by the thickness. Mostly, as some less scrupulous manufacturers might use thick insulation to make the cable seem higher quality than it is.
Some of them are charging only, some of them are USB 2.0 only, I'm not sure if the Switch works over USB 2.0 only, it should, but Nintendo aren't exactly following the spec, so who knows.

Highly unlikely, as I can inject payloads just fine with Tegra...

Edit:
For anyone struggling with USB, and disliking Wifi (it sucks without Ethernet cable...):
Tinleaf does split xci/nsp files, so it might be faster to copy em to the micro sd and go from there.

Well, have you installed the driver with Zadig again while running a homebrew that uses USB?
Yes. Even rebooted Windows.
Tried Awoo, Goldleaf, both to no avail. (Not surprising, since the Nswitch is only listed in the devmgmt when I put it into RCM...)
[Driver is located in: "TegraRcmGUI_v2.6_portable\apx_driver\InstallDriver.exe" - weighs 3.55 mb]

You'd think such a standardised process was easy..

It's called something else when in HOS. Someone said it should be called "libnx Comms" but that didn't seem to be the case for me at least.

Another nice nugget:
I heard something about the USB interface,If you use the usb3.1 gen2 interface, you cant connect to awoo.If you use the usb3.1 gen1 interface, the connection is fine. This interface is usually on the back of the computer, you can have a try.
https://gbatemp.net/threads/awoo-no-usb-detected.560481/
Also:
If you really want to use USB, why not use your android phone ?

Yup, no libnx comms for me either.

Oh well.

EDIT2:
Ha.. how weird....
I stuck my "microUSB->USB-C" on a short Micro USB cable I had lying around and..
Sure enough the Switch now connects flawlessly (!?!)
AwooInstaller is recognized, Zadik installation was flawless..
So maybe using as shorter cable is imperative ?
(I even used my Laptops USB 3 port...)

TegraRCMGui has nothing to do with installing games with usb, it is simply to send the payload to give you CFW, or can be used to get your keys. But again nothing to do with installing games.

Try this
Get this version of Tinfoil https://github.com/satelliteseeker/Tinfoil/releases/tag/v0.2.1-USB-fix

Windows first run setup
In order to communicate with your Switch you must first install the libusbk driver. This only needs to be done once and will not affect your ability to send RCM payloads.

  • Download Zadig

  • Plug your Switch into your pc and open Tinfoil. Navigate to Title Management -> USB Install.

  • Open Zadig. In Options enable List All Devices. Select libnx USB comms. Select the driver libusbk and click Replace Driver
Your PC can now communicate with TinFoil.
Thank you so much! I haven´t touched my switch in weeks and when I try to use older methods (Goldleaf/Goldtree) they didnt work neither.
It´s weird bc I haven´t change anything on my system. Tinfoil din´t work too, so I´ve used your method (I made this zadig tuto very long time ago) and now it´s working again. I only need this once, right?

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
  • DinohScene @ DinohScene:
    run h2testw on it

when SD cards/microSD write speeds drop below a meg a sec, they're usually on the verge of dying

Samsung SD format can sometimes fix them too
  • Purple_Heart @ Purple_Heart:
yes looks like an faulty sd
  • Purple_Heart @ Purple_Heart:
@Psionic Roshambo i may try that with my dead sd cards

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    It's always worth a shot

@The Real Jdbye, I considered that, but i'll have to wait until i can get the eu version in the mail lol
