Well you can safely use title id's replacing the initial letter with U I guess... Title database doesn't contain any of them...

Maybe we can install these channels as game channels like wii fit channel and mario kart channel so there is minimum possibility of collision...

4 characters we give to the channels are prepended again with 4 chars signifying type of content...

so instead of using

00010001: Downloaded channels

we may use below prefix.... needs testing tough

00010004: Game channels and games that use them

hm maybe possible, but since ALL tik files are stored in the TIK folder in nand I think you still need seperate ID, it i recall the tik are stored without the 00010001 or 00010004 in the file name

Hmm, I remember deleting Wiifit channel was also deleting the Wiifit game save...

ps1: by the way the reason for this is obvious, mario kart and wiifit does have both 00010004 prefix so the disc title and channel title are the same... this is not the case for the other games... and tickets have different folders for each prefix (high 32 bit of title id)

WHAT?
I just deleted the wii fit channel a few moments ago..
If Nintendo did something like this, they are idiots!

Thankfully I take a backup of savegames onto sd card every day..

Well channel operates on the same save data... so it's quite logical

Well, it operates on the same save data, yeah.
But if I deleted MS Word from my computer, that doesn't mean every single word document is deleted..

I'll check this in an hour and get back to you..
But it it's true, someone should have a serious word with Nintendo..
Having a gamesave deleted because you delete something that is able to access the save is stupid.. Or to put it the way I would: Idiotic!
Imagine someone having spent alot of time on Wii Fit.
He/she figures out theres no real need to have the channel installed anymore because it's never being used anyways.
That same day a few friends drop by to see if the first persons record claims are true, to find a never played wii fit.

edit to supply a better example
I have satellite TV with a digital receiver
This receiver has a built-in HDD for recording shows, kinda like a Tivo.

A few months ago some new channels were added to my subscription, but they didn't appear. I called my provider.
I was told to go to the menu and do a software update. I asked them if I should copy what I had recorded onto dvds first, but no there was no need for that.
I updated, new channels appeared and I said Thank you.. Before hanging up I went to check my recorded programs, to find a blank hdd!
I got angry and asked why he said everything would be fine, and he laughed at me, told me that "Due to the danish laws I couldn't complain, since it's illegal to do a digital to digital copy (digital tv recorded digitally is a digital to digital copy)

Now, my provider was found guilty of "sabotage" and was forced to refund 3 full years of subscription, and every new manual printed must contain a warning that updating software will empty the HDD.

If deleting a channel, which is just an added feature to a game, also deletes that games savedata, I hardly think Nintendo would go free of charges, do you?

Maybe I don't remember right...

Or I did many things that time installing the ntsc/pal wiifit channel and such.. so without testing I can't say much

What about wiiware? Does removing wiiware keeps the saves?

Depends of if you used Any Title Deleter or Data Management in System Menu to remove it. ATD removes content and the ticket (thus wiping the save as well), whereas removing the channel from the system menu should leave the ticket and save in place.

Wiping official stuff with ATD is always naughty ... =)

Hmm, I'm removing the downloads for these test versions... Since I tested 1.1 extensively with 1.5 loader, it's better you download and use that. Download link is in the first post.

Not to sound ignorant (mainly because I've had a few too many vodka shooters at this point), but what does Secure Socket Layer have to do with Crap? Is it related to the app signing for the channels? Just curious.

Wad packing and unpacking uses hashing, encryption and decryption stuff. win32 openssl library corresponds to crypto library in unix....

No signing stuff done when unpacking or packing wads hence only common key used..

This is for example different for savefiles, a private key from everyone's wii is used to sign the savefile.

This application is built using native visual c++, uses it's own wad stuff based on the segher's tools... on cygwin or mingw builds you don't need this library since environment would have it's own crypto libraries... or some applications invoke wadpacker.exe and wadunpacker.exe from command line they don't need openssl (wadpacker.exe and wadunpacker.exe built against cygwin... so....)

Damn, I had read these posts and yet i stupidly made the same mistake.

I just accidentally deleted my mario kart savegame (when i deleted the channel..., I've been trying to modify the channel to boot the USBlloader for mariokart, however it seems like I can't just inject the dol into the wad like with custom channels... it keeps freezing... I've tried replacing 00000001.app and 00000009.app, and also just swapping the MK channel banner into the other wad, however that causes system corruption, I suspect because the WAD is missing neccessary parts)

That's so much data, and I have no backup

P.S. Crap is awesome! Thanks a bunch WiiCrazy

I have about 17 channels on my wii made with Crap.

Can i add loaders? If yes, how?
I´d like USB Loader by Brisma.

Nice software.
Thanks WiiCrazy!

You can add a loader by just editing the crap.cfg file... should not be trivial...
crucial fields are :
filename (name of the dol file)
discIdPlaceHolder (placeholder for the disc id in the dol file)
