Need to update firmware as daughter wants to play title which requires 5.1.0.
Found two threads on how to update switch firmware but still not sure which is the best way of doing it. I though with SX OS booting into that mode and updating the firmware would work (however could result in a ban as not put the switch online yet since installing SX OS). First method below seems complex & risky, whereas the second simpler but ends up with the device being in AutoRCM (which I'm not using yet). Any thoughts on the best way?

My understanding is the second link is just a newer, easier to use version of the first (I went through the first link's tutorial and things are working great). Both processes end up using AutoRCM.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, though!

Both methods require using AutoRCM forevermore after updating, otherwise the fuses will be burned when you boot the official firmware. So just pick one or the other, or if you don't care about being able to downgrade to an older firmware version at some point in the future, you can just upgrade normally.

Do not go online with a modded system at all... your risk of ban is high..
Also the guides you posted require you to always use a custom bootloader
to launch your system without burning fuses...

If you do not care about your fuses being burned then you can use without the bootloader..

You may also be able launch Original system without using sx os or its payload/dongle
bu booting into normal stock system and use the sytem update feature in settings ..

But im unsure if urd get flagged for a ban for that. i doubt it very much but dont take my word for it

NOTE: Also posted here but not sure how to link (https://gbatemp.net/threads/choiduj...mebrew-for-the-nintendo-switch.513416/page-25)
Could use some help. Running on SX OS (never installed homebrew), added ChoiDujourNXv101 to /switch/ folder. Extracted NX-5.1.0 to folder in root.
These attempts to run ChoiDujourNX fail with black screen:
(1) Using SX OS payload, navigating to homebrew tab - launching the app
(2) Adding the following files to root (Either update your hbloader (from the release here: https://github.com/rajkosto/nx-hbloader/releases)) then using SX OS payload, same as above
(3) Using this guide (https://gbatemp.net/threads/switch-hacking-101-how-to-launch-the-homebrew-menu-on-all-fw.504012/) downloading SDFilesV61.zip, extracting to root of SD. Using hekati-ipl-50x payload.bin, launch CFW, then running homebrew app. Doesnt open show what looks like a loading bar but freezes)
(4) Using SX OS payload, navigating to homebrew tab - launching the app. Or Launching Homebrew app, same result as (3)

Help would be appreciated. THanks

What are they called? Can't find them in there.

Hopefully you are not asking where they are on the website, because that would mean you didn't even try to read the FAQ. On the ftp they are literally in the first directory. Official Nintendo switch firmware or such.

Nice can u do the same with game updates ? You got a link to said app ?

CDNSP for download, tinfoil for install. Get the latest reinx, rajnx or dark meteos's file pack 3.0.1 to get the best/latest tinfoil. xbins doesn't host cndsp so Google Bob gui cdnsp to dl it.

Update with nsp file if you want to stay offline but you'll still burn fuses.

Update with guides listed if you want to be able to downgarde in the future but be aware that this method requires autoCRM so you'll have to launch a payload at every boot

I just updated mine conecting it to nintendo without sx os , updated all the games too. And then deleted the network config. If i get banned then so be it, the system and sx os is doing what is supposed to do, play games offline.
