Hello guys,

I have a PS3 60GB for 4 years now, always played fine, but i confessed i didn't played on it since something like 9months. 2 days ago when i tried to play on it, it booted just fine but when i tried to play a PS2 game it showed me the Playstation 2 boot logo and then blackscreen into the console just powered off (it wasn't YOLD i checked it right after). I also tested on a PS3 game installed on the HDD and it blackscreened just the same. So i guessed it was a software malfunction so i resotered entirely the system (i back up the saved files tho), and then just to be sure i installed the lastest firmware 4.89 using wifi (terrible mistake) before testing games. So the PS3 blocked during the firmware update looping on it at 84% everytime. I decided to use a fresh HDD from a friend's PS3, i formated it even at low level and installed the loop fix in it. When the boot up the PS3 showed no signal so i entered recovery mode, tested reintialisation and nothing worked, so i've put the 4.84 firmware on a USB stick and tried to update but now it still update loop but at 75%.
I quite don't understand what i can do more, is there something i'm not getting right ? every help can be a lfiesaver

Unfortunately i don't really know, the only thing i know is that when i full reinstalled the ps3 system before installing the update, my PS2 game wasn't showing up in the gamelist so maybe i guess maybe ? But if that's the case why does it blocks the installation of the system update ? I can try to swap it with another blue-ray disc that i have from a YOLD PS3

Make sure to keep the original BD drive board, mechanics can be swapped with ease.
