Hardware Update game without updating console?

So, I have a modded console, and I have the DNS servers set to ones that block system updates. Today, I got a copy of Guitar Hero LIVE and it requires a game update before you can use any online features, but I don't want to set the DNS servers back to default and loose access to homebrew (cause system updates make you loose access to it) just to update the game to use online features.

TL;DR: Can I update a game (a disk game) without setting the custom DNS servers back to normal and risk my system updating? Like a force update, through something like WUP Installer maybe?

    Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

    @Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.
