That is old information. It does sound familiar, and I remember it being the case, but I can't remember exactly why. In any case, you can do the update on emuNAND in Luma and then use Gateway afterward (you could do this even then - note "Use a CFW or other method"). Hold Select on boot and tick "Autoboot emuNAND" to be able to enter emuNAND in Luma. Whether booted in Gateway mode or in Luma it is the same emuNAND. Make sure to use the most recent launcher.dat.

No worries. Yes it is but some secondary functions don't work like the LED on sleep mode and the battery indicator I think.
Lol sorry just one more question :D is it safe to go on the eshop because I usually just use the freeshop. I would like to download something that's not on the freeshop so I just wanted to double check if it's safe to go.

Yep. It's possible you might lose any pirated DLC (have to reinstall it) but that's all.

To add to @Quantumcat's answer (also, I didn't read past posts, maybe you already stated about this), if you have no NNID linked, pirated DLC and pirated official Themes will stay even after entering the eShop.

so far, so good. does it count as entering the eshop if u try to update a game? I know it logs in your NNiD. I've accidentally done that a few times. I'm using a pirated Majora's Mask theme, and I've never lost it from doing this. lol

Yeah, it's happened before, with my custom theme but no worries. Thanks much!

Ok, cool!

Ok, I only have a custom theme. I've been researching how to properly update my freeshop and I'm seeing the new homebrew and stuff. I am getting very confused and I don't know what do. I don't know how to get this new homebrew and how to update my freeshop properly.

What is your actual setup? Console type, Luma version? I added instructions for installing and using freeShop to the OP of the Noob Paradise thread.

N3DS, Luma 8.1. Sorry I've been so trigger happy with the questions, I literally don't know what most of this stuff means and I'm trying to learn it so I can understand what to do. You've been very helpful though and I really appreciate it. EDIT, I've finally figured out what to do so nvm about all the questions. I did, however, post a question on that Noob Paradise forum if you'd like to check that out. Thanks anyway!

Thanks for the Fast Reply,
so technically, ill install Luma CFW on my Emunand Version (which is 9.2 Emunand) and Update my Emunand to 11.2 using Luma CFW, then Reinstall Gateway CFW...
ill try this , ill let you know if i booted ok.. thanks..

Ill just back up my Emunand First then install Luma CFW..thanks

ill just ask if i Reinstall Gateway when i am Luma,. do i have dual Emunand? is there a way to delete luma afterwards? thanks

Huh, so that's why my DLCs were disappearing after entering eShop. Thanks for clearing that up.
Also, i've got another question: I only updated my Luma (using the updater) after updating to 11.5. So far everything's ok, but would doing something like that again be too risky?

Yeah, you should do the following:
1. Wait until there is general consensus on the forums that the update is safe (a few days)
2. Update Luma if an update is required for the new firmware
3. Update your system

Most likely the worst that can happen is that you get a black screen on boot if you update first, but something worse could happen (though I can't imagine what).

It is the same emuNAND whether booted with Gateway or Luma, you don't need to make a new one.

Is anything working for the old 3DS 11.5? I used to have Homebrew and soundhax but that doesn't load anymore.

Cakes came back from the dead?
There was an update for B9S 1.0 and 11.4, but there hasn't been anything since.
11.5 doesn't change enough to damage CakesFW, so anyone still using CakesFW can actually update with the 11.4 NATIVE_FIRM.
