I've been putting off buying a PSP for a while now. I want to buy a PSP soon, but also want to wait till after christmas and go in for the sales. But I know that the new motherboards are becoming more and more widespread all the time and am worried that by that time It'll be hard to find one by then. Firstly, do you guys think that I will get a new motherboard by the end of december? is it so hard to find hackable ones that I should I wait and get a phat PSP at that time? Secondly, is there any way at all to get a new PSP hacked? Even a hard way?

Also, is this true?

AFAIK, all PSP's are hackable but the new one's have a battery that cannot be soft modded into a Pandora battery. If you got a hold of a Pandora battery from some other method (Deal Extreme sells them for ~$7, IIRC) it should be able to be used on any PSP you might end up w/... Of course, I haven't had the need to mod a PSP in some time so I haven't done much homework on the subject since then so someone may know something I don't.

I'm going to bet that either one of three things will happen

1. A softmod will arrive for the new mobos
2. A hardmod will arrive.
3. You will still be able to find used 2000s on the internet/ some stores will still have them stocked.

Retail? No. Online? You might be able to find some new ones, but mostly used.

Replacing the Mobo.

That info sound a little old, I think PSPs started to get hard to hack when the Blue Madden PSP came out, and since then there isn't an easy way to hack it.

There's a good chance, yes. It's already getting hard as it is to get an old mobo, so there's a good chance you'll have a hard time finding a hackable mobo. However, the Blue Datel battery is going to be released soon, and it apparently can hack any 2k and 3k PSP... so if it does in fact do that, then mobo's won't matter.

is it so hard to find hackable ones that I should I wait and get a phat PSP at that time?
Personally, I wouldn't settle for a Phat. I think the 2000 series, even the 3000 series, is better than the 1000 series. It's not TOO hard to find a hackable Slim at the moment, but I assume they will become more scarce as time goes by. But, like I said in the answer above, Datel is working on a solution that may help everyone in this situation out.

Secondly, is there any way at all to get a new PSP hacked? Even a hard way?
No there is not.

the new battery does nothing but bring down the security of a psp3000 to the level of security on a psp2000 with a TA-088v3
the new battery can put any psp2000/3000 in service mode, but the TA-088v3 and psp3000 still have a more advanced security check on ipl's.
and untill that security is broken the new battery is as usefull as any other slim tool battery.
EDIT: ok, seems right now the psp3000 is still better secured at the moment.
part of the security codes of the TA-088v3 have been cracked, bringing us a lot closer of getting a CFW installer that works for ALL 2000's.

Well, thanks. I might be going and getting a used one today, or pretty soon. Thanks to the people that answered near the end of the thread.

Don't continually post the same thing and be a douchebag when you're the one looking for help.
You could have searched for this in the first place anyways.

Douche bag? Me? Same to you.

And if you wouldn't mind, could you direct me to this place I should have searched for that tells me the probabilities of getting a bad motherboard right after Christmas in canada.

Also, I would like to inform you that there was no need to quote that last post, as it had nothing to do with what you just posted.

As for posting the same thing over and over, Nobody would answer my questions, and kept giving me semi-relevant responses that gave me minimal help.

I wish you a day just as enjoyable as being burnt at the stake after being accused of witchcraft by medieval authorities.

you really are an idiot
what you did was EXTREMELY annoying and i'm not surprised more people have flamed you for it
people were trying to be helpful and you went and acted like a complete twat

ur lucky i cant be bothered to waste any more time over you or i would suspend your account for a silly amount of time.....

topic closed before a flame war really begins
