    I'm stuck. I am on:
    • 7.0.1 Firmware
    • 2.6.1 beta of SX OS
I have activated my license and created a backup using SX OS and Hekate. I then attempted to create a EmuNAND with a hidden partition on the SD. Everything went great but when I click on the orange "EnuNAND disabled" it doesn't change it to enabled. I ended up deleting the hidden partition and did it strait on the SD without the hidden and the results were the same.

Is there something I'm missing? Any suggestions? Thanks!

hidden partition emunand with 7.0.1 and sx os 2.6.1 has issues, you need to create the emuNAND as files on the SD Card instead.

also when you create hidden partition from memory it formats the SD card, so you might not have your licence.dat on the card any more.

Thanks for your response. I did try it with both "hidden" and not hidden (strait on the SD) and with either I was unable to enable emunand.

I'm currently in middle of updating my emuNAND to 7.0.1 - my OFW is 3.0.2 (exfat - couldn't detect the SD card otherwise), 400GB SD card and I've created SX OS v2.6.1 beta emuNAND as files (fat32 formatted partition) and give me a sec and I'll finish upgrading emuNAND to 7.0.1

what I'd really like to do though is be able to convert my hidden partition emuNAND (6.2.0) from my other SD card to files, then just move them to the bigger SD card. Much less work moving save games, profiles etc.etc.

ok yes, I can confirm I now have SX OS 2.6.1 with emuNAND as SD files on a FAT32 formatted 400GB SD card, with 7.0.1 running in emuNAND and 3.0.2 in sysNAND.

format the SD card and maybe it's best to start again - what I did this afternoon was format the SD card as FAT32, put the SX OS boot.dat and payload.bin on the SD Card.

then I booted into the SX OS launcher and it created the licence-request.dat file.

I then uploaded the licence-request.dat file to the sx.executor.rocks (but the main site is now back online) registration page, entered my licence number and it then prompted me to download a licence.dat file.

I copied the licence.dat file to the SD card and booted into the SX OS launcher again. only AFTER I had the licence.dat file on the SD Card was I able to create the emuNAND as files on the SD card.

once the files were created I had to reboot, went back into the SX OS launcher and then it allowed me to enable emuNAND.

    good luck!

Thank you. If I formatted to FAT32 does that mean I'm not able to put files on the SD card that are larger than 4gb?

Hi Nathan, correct - FAT32 only supports file sizes up to 4GB - BUT there are work arounds.

What I think is the easiet and best solution:

    1. if you use your switch near you PC, then download the NUT.EXE version 1.2 from github.com/blawar/nut/releases

    2. run the NUT.EXE, make the popup window larger so you can see the "select folder" button and section in the top left of the window - click in there and point it to the folder where you have your NSP and XCI files on your windows PC.

    3. Nut will scan all the files and you can now install files larger than 4GB direct over USB cable to the switch - but you will need to download tinfoil version 1.55 from the tinfoil.io web site and copy the files from the ZIP file to your SD card.

    4. run the tinfoil v1.55 installer on your switch and you'll now see all the files on your PC - you can directly install the NSP files on the PC to your SD card or the emuNAND. (eg: it took me about 4 minutes to install Skyrim over the USB cable like this).

The next best solution (also useful if you have a large XCI collection):

    1. if you have a USB C to USB female adaptor (mine cost about $5 from my local PC store.. basically it's an adaptor to plug into the switch which then has a normal female SUB socket) plug it in, then plug in a USB stick or USB HDD which is formatted as EXFAT and have the large files on the USB stick. Install the files using tinfoil v1.55 as per listed above and you can install the NSP or XCI file to your SD card or emuNAND.

    2. I have a western digital 4TB 2.5" self powered (elements series, I think.. it's rectangular with 'squarish' edges and a dark blue colour) which I connect to the USB adaptor and then I can mount XCI and play them direct from the USB HDD - whether in hand held or docked mode.

The least best solution (in my opinion if you don't have access to a PC to run NUT, or a USB stick and adaptor)

    1. split the large files into 4GB parts - there are a number of tools on this site which can do it.. tinfoil v1.55 supports installing of split NSP files as well.. so copy the files to your SD card and then install as per normal.. you will need to delete the files from the SD card after you install them.

Thanks for the help. I just did this the same way you did and it still won't enable. I haven't clicked on "boot custom fw" yet. I wanted to only do this in emuNAND only. Do you think this is part of the issue?

so you did the licencing part and then copied the ''licence.dat'' back to the SD Card?
next when you booted the SX OS launcher you went to the OPTIONS menu and created the emuNAND - did you do files or hidden partition?
you need to reboot the console after creating the emuNAND before you can activate it.. I also found I had to press around the orange enable emuNAND a few times before I found the sweet spot and it actually detected and enabled.
I can recall if it auto booted into SX OS after I enabled emuNAND or if I had to press the custom firmware button.

I have never clicked "boot custom FW

I have done the licensing part offline. I went to the options and created the emunand in the following ways.
    • exfat with hidden partition
    • exfat without hidden partition
    • fat32 without hidden partition
No matter what I do I'm unable to actually enable EmuNAND. It just continues to say disabled.
I haven't clicked on "boot custom fw" yet as I'm wanting to only do it in EmuNAND.

so asking the obvious again, did you copy the licence.dat file to the SD card?

Yes I did. I just realized that I used an old dongle that I had on my old switch. I wonder if this messed something up since it may have been attached to another license number.

does it says License is Valid when you go to Album?
try use sx os 2.6.2 or format it to fat32 then create hidden partition

I have not booted into custom fw yet because I don't want to taint my original nand. (unless I'm thinking of this incorrectly). Do I need to do this now or wait until I can do it in the emuNand?

some people couldn't create a valid license with 2.6.1
try create license-req.dat with 2.6.2 and see if it works

Wait to check it on emunand! What I did its activate the license online then setup emunand ,the first time you click boot cfw its create the license.dat then you click back and you turn off the switch and get the file and activate on your pc

Figured out the issue. I was using my old pro dongle that I had on my old switch. It was saying the license was activated but it wasn't. I had to inject the payload through my computer the first time and activate the license and then I could use the dongle.
