Hello!

I got my new wii (LU70)

And I wanted to try this.

I started with Online Meathod,
I had HBC, and 3.2U Menu. but no cIOS (the Guide said cIOS or Menu below 3.2)

Everything went fine until the IOS60 Updater. I get that same error mentioned on page 69. So should I just install cIOS60 from WAD Mangager? I thought if IOS60 went unpatched, it corrupts the system.

Just to clarify, I have no hombrew besides HBC, and the stuff from steps 1-6 on online meathod. No Preloader or BootMii

There are new Wiis that are that high above LU64 and hackable normally? o_0 When did you buy it and how was it still on 3.2?

Anyways your cIOS installed properly and it updated to 4.0 fine? The only thing the patched IOS60 is for is basically to be able to load wad's of vc/wiiware games that you install off of the sd card menu on 4.0. If you don't need that you don't really need to patch it, but if you patch it after installing preloader I think you would have to reinstall preloader again to fix the brick it causes.

Thanks! I bought my Wii 4-5 Days ago. And it was on 3.2 I renember because Wii shop wouldnt work. It updated perfectly to 4.0. and step 1 (which I guess is the cIOS step) Worked fine too.

I probably wont need Wiiware stuff, but ill try the ISO60 installer again tommorow morning.

Also, I dont have preloader yet, should I install it now?

Thanks a billion!

Are you sure it was 3.2 and not 3.4? The shop channel won't work regardless if you weren't on 4.0 or at least had IOS61. You would know you were on 3.2 over 3.4 if you went into wii settings and saw it at the top right. Did you also run IOS and cIOS downgrader or just update straight to 4.0 with the 4.0 updater? Though if the cIOS installer did indeed install correctly without saying an error or something at the end, it may have been 3.2...

Well regardless, you seem to have gotten really lucky with that purchase! Though I still wouldn't run anything that downgrades any IOS's from now on just to be sure...

As for preloader, it depends on what you wanna do I suppose. If you ever do want to deal with anything remotely dangerous like installing any wads of any sort, you may want to get it first, if you're just going to use applications through the HBC like usb loaders and what not you shouldn't really need it. If you feel you're prone to possibly do something very stupid you may want to get it just in case anyways.

I'd still tread lightly with anything you do on it now though since you seem to have gotten cIOS and 4.0 already installed if something doesn't work ask about it and mention the details about your Wii and what you did to it when you do.

Yes I ran cIOS and IOS downgraders. And it was 3.2 when I fired it my Wii for the first time. I really only plan on launching things from HBC so I'm good.

Thanks for all your help!

when i got that error i decided to go ahead. step 11 was tricky. i didnt understand what u mean by WAD 1-18.

11) Run WAD-Manager_v1.4 again. Choose IOS249 and install WADs 01-18. If WAD Manager freezes during installation just try again from the WAD it froze on.

i know its download on sd slot.. but where is next? install wad 1-18 is what? and WHAT KIND of WAD im suppose to install 1-18?

i know i repeated it a few times, but i can haven't gotten the FULL answers to both of my problems

A) Run CMDVDX35 and choose Downgrade IOS35. It might say network error just ignore it and choose Exit

i restarted the hacks again.. but then it said ...

This process is running...ERROR! did you did this already?

how can i start this over again?

12) While still in WAD Manager install SystemMenuv###.wad

what system # is for 4.0U?

10) Run cIOS36_rev10-Installer and choose WAD Installation

it got errors on it. can i use internet installation?

^Yes its the cios IOS35-64-v1042.wad error

13) Run preloaderv0.29-cred and press 1 to install

i get this weird error in it...

Failed to get ROOT,current IOS(36) had the fakesign bug fixed

Questions like these piss u guys off huh?

Wait WHAT? Won't deleting IOS60 while being on 4.0 pretty much perma brick a Wii
my bad i figured he was on 3.2 still

IOS-Downgrader
cIOS-Downgrader
Anytitle deleter. delete all IOS above 37.
NANDCleaner
format wii system memory.
format SD card.

Considering the guide tells you to install preloader right after running the IOS60 patcher, it shouldn't do anything to render the
I say install preloader after IOS60 because installing a new IOS60 removes preloader

you can try installing bootmii to boot2 but i doubt it will work on LU70
if you installed cIOS then use WAD manager to install cios60.wad (get it from the offline guide)
lastly install preloader

no shit. you dont need to do it again if you already install IOS35

youd have to be stupid or blind to miss where it says all the versions RIGHT WHEN IT ASKS YOU

IOS-Downgrader
cIOS-Downgrader
Anytitle deleter. delete all IOS above 37.
NANDCleaner
format wii system memory.
format SD card.

Hmm I'm still kinda sketchy about having people delete any official IOS's at all to begin with, and formatting the Wii at all. Is there really any need to? After doing all the other things the only thing that would basically still be there from any hacks would be the HBC, which you could also just delete through anytitledeleter by deleting the haxx ticket.

I feel like it's enough to just run:

NANDclean/Hack Remover to get rid of any preloader hacks.
IOS Downgrader
cIOS Downgrader to 3.2 of your region.
If preloader still loads, then install the system menu wad for your firmware.
Then Anytitle Deleter to delete any IOS above 200 (cIOS's)
Then if you really want to also delete the HAXX ticket to get rid of HBC.
And if need be format/get rid of everything related on your SD card

That should be enough to have a relatively clean 3.2 Wii from which you can do a normal official update to 4.0 or just start the guide over right?

There's not really much of a problem with having IOS 38,53,55 on 3.2 as some games would need those anyways. And having IOS61 should let the shop channel still work, and those IOS's aren't like patched or anything either. I suppose IOS60 would still be patched, but you could install a normal one over that instead of deleting it (before you go through the process of deleting the other stuff after downgrading).

*shrugs*

I don't really like to advocate "starting fresh" to begin with. I feel like most problems you have would be easier to just fix from where you are than trying to just get rid of everything and start over, likely doing the same thing anyways and getting right back where you started.

And if you really wanted to be able to easily just start fresh the best way would be to have installed bootmii to boot2 before doing anything and making a nand backup of your virgin state.

Hi,
sorry I'm completely new to this, and somehow I'm not able to find the answer to my problem (for sure it's somewhere in the forum).

I have now followed this guide and updated my 3.2E Wii (still got the BootMii backup) to 4.0. So now I'm able to play games from USB.

But what do I need to do in order to play backups from the discchannel? I have a wiikey installed. But I only got a black screen?!?! Also, once this is working will there be a way to automatically fix the #002 errors (like Madworld)?

Sorry for the lame questions,
Sorb

I've had my wii for about 2 years now. It is currently running on 4.0E official firmware and has HBC installed using bannerbomb. Will I be able to use the offline method to install cIOS and preloader?

Hey guys, I finally decided to update to 4.0 from 3.3 using this guide today and ran into a problem on step 4.

Everything was going fine until it began to install the shop channel, and it gave some kind of error (I think it says -ret 1001 or 1010) and went back to the Wii menu. Afterwards the HBC wouldn't load until I reinstalled it. Any idea why this would happen and how to fix it?

Hi, I have a modded 3.2U Wii and I want to upgrade it to 4.0.
I want to do it with the Online methode, but it saids that I need the Homebrew channel installed. The fact is that I tried to install it all the night but I didn't find how. I don't want to install the Twilight Channel, because I don't own Zelda.

I downloaded the all-in-one HackMii Installer (from the Homebrew Channel website), but I don't know what to do after. Do I need to create a image with all those files? Please help.
