1. Can I install WAD files that are stored on a USB mass storage device? My SD card for some reason is no longer writable if it's in my PC (I have to tape over this little notch on the right side in order to get it to write and once it's taped enough to get it to write on the PC, it doesn't fit in the Wii's SD slot and I need to untape it to put it back in the Wii; way too much nonsense). I can still write to it on the Wii so I could continue to install VC/WW games to the card like I've been doing but I need a way to move .WADs to the console.

2. Going from the above, is there a way to clone an SD card so you can get all the same stuff on it, just on a different SD card? Eventually I might buy a different 16GB card and just move everything over from this faulty card but I'd need a way to do so that will retain everything so the Wii can read it again once I do.

there should be no need to clone the card, simply copying the files schold be enough for almost every wii homebrew
the one exeption being devolution, you will have to verify the games again

I would advise against it (even in the devo case) but you can clone the card (its slow and, if you dont know what you do, dangerous too)
I myself can provide instructions for linux, for windows (while it should be possible too) you have to ask someone else

the details depend to much on circumstance (new card sligthly smaller or much larger than the old, ...) for convise general instruction
reply with output of "fdisk -l" for both cards if and when you want to go forward.

Well it's not homebrew stuff I'm trying to preserve but rather the VC/WW games I installed to the card. Can I copy that data over with a simple file transfer?
