That's only one service and isn't anything like what's offered here. There's a seperate app for each service but this is one app for everything allowing you to view/search/share everything from one place.

Not only that but it isn't only supporting FiOS or any specific provider. Every Canadian and US provider is supported according to Nintendo.

    OK, I misinterpreted it.

After looking at the youtube video, it looks to me like xbmc.

Yes it will be available in Canada. It has been confirmed. Reggie himself confirmed it.

TVii is XBMC or Plex or any other media server; the additional capabilities are that it has access the encrypted PVR content and the cable companies premium services.

There are more differences that you are either unaware of or just have not quite considered the implications of those differences.

Ask yourself this, how do these two seemingly similar technologies connect to the machine? Then stop and think about what that means to the user experience. Both will work, but only one is going to feel like it was made to do it.

I can turn a Truck into a fast vehicle with a huge engine, but it's never going to drive like a nice sports car.

For anyone wondering about DNLA, for streaming music/video from your comp. I contacted ninty through email and was told, as of right now they have no information regarding it.

I've been trying to find out about it through various sites but no one has an answer. And since Nintendo doesn't either I apparently have to wait until it is released.

It's cool that it unites it all in one interface but if I can't access my computer files then it is lacking a feature I and many others, I assume, use.

And I would be fine with having to use a seperate 3rd party program like I'm doing now with my ps3(pms) but I hope they allow the access. I'm worried they won't.

They already missed the chance to capture people by allowing DVDs or blurays, because it would hike up the price more with the lisencing of those technologies.

Otherwise I am really digging it and will be purchasing one closer to the holidays. Since other things are tieing up my funds.

SmartGlass was only created to under cut Nintendo. How long or how well would this be supported? Is this even out yet, before the wii u?
I'm sorry, but TVii features beat SmartGlass hands down. You didn't understand the differentiation of the features.

The fact you didn't have to fiddle for another device since it all one place and that it comes with every wii u, the features will most likely be
    use more.

Also, without the need to switch devices, it would flow seamlessly through the OS (between the games and your extra stuff) of the console.

SmartGlass allows yoou to controll the media on your OS.

TVii does that more smoothly as well as more interactive and allow you controller you media all in one place.

I don't get why everyone's jizzing over this. It changes the channel for you and shows some information. If I wanted to see information when I was watching a show I'd google it on my android, and I already have something that can change the channel for me. It's called a remote.

It's a nice idea but.. it's really no game changer.

The thing is, I'm guessing it gets all its channel & program information from Nintendo and 3rd party servers. If you use a proxy to access it it probably still won't be compatible with the channels on devices in unsupported areas.

You basically just said the best advantage of SmartGlass is a downer. What.

The fact that you can use almost any third party device, from a Windows Phone to Android device to iPhone, is huge. I don't have to buy new hardware for it, I just hook up my smartphone or tablet and I have a second screen device.

Also, who cares how "smoothly" I can choose a movie. I'm just choosing a movie. If it takes my 5 seconds to find it or 15 seconds, who gives a shit. Also SmartGlass got a pretty nice demo at E3 and it showed that it's indeed quite smooth.

My thing is that people are blowing TVii out of proportion when it's really just the same suite of video features that the other consoles have had for years, give or take a few features.

Dude, you are pretending like this is a 12 paged thread with people wetting their pants over this. I think most of the future WiiU-owner see this as a welcome addition the consoles software... legidimately I might add! It's not like people came here and said this is so much better then XBox bla bla bla til someone mentioned smartglass.

Is there anything else you do besides giving condescending comments towards anything and really ANYTHING Nintendo-related?

Also people should acknoledge that Nintendo may very well be doing catch-up with their entertainment-stuff but it builts upon what is offered by its competitors and to compare smartglass with the WiiUPad is rediculous...

I own a 360 and an iPad (with which I'm writing this and btw is hard as hell on this thing :P) and I don't see me connecting the two just like I wouldn't connect my 3DS to my Future-WiiU if it had connectivity... In my mind it's not a very appealing situation when I have to connect something to my 360 if I want some information.

    Throwing milk at the bitches!
    This.

Just accept the fact Nintendo is catching up, its not a massive revolution (atleast not to me) but it makes watching TV and Netflix a shitload easier from what I've seen, so many times have I gone to watch a movie on Netflix, just to see its not there, with TVii I can quickly search up the movie without waiting for it to boot up and all, same with TV, if there's awesome movie being showed and I just happen to get caught at my backup shows, this atleast let's me know I can watch that instead. Its not a feature that I'm going to start humping my monitor over, but its convinent and that's good enough.

I realize the fact that Nintendo is "catching up" but if a positive to your console is "catching up" to 7 year old consoles then there's a serious issues. The suite of features is good but a lot of people are really thinking this is the greatest thing since sliced bread when it's still just glorified catch up.

It surely isn't negative, and again, I don't see no serious issues as you're pointing it out.

Besides that, most hyped up posts in this thread are actually yours, and hyped up negatively I mean....funniest thing, nobody actually posted anything fanboyish, even before your first post here, nobody actually posted anything positively about it, people were mostly asking what the hell it is? I can't see where are you finding these "people are really thinking this is the greatest thing since sliced bread" comments while trashing yet another thread.

I never implied anything "fanboyish" nor did I say this is negative. I simply said it's not what it's cracked up to be.

I saw a lot of people praising this for more than I think it's worth. What's the issue here?

The issue is that you're on yet another rampage that's killing the thread and mood, as I already said it yesterday.

You say it's not what it's cracked up to be.....without.....console even released? O.o
I ask, where do you see that lot of people praising it, that would justify your negativity (and mind me, nothing can justify it, but you've gone so far that you don't even need to be "provoked" to burst in hate rampage)

The bottom line is that the systems don't need different features. Xboxers are gonna use Smart Glass, Wii U'rs are gonna use the Wii U. To be fair though, Microsoft did steal everything from Nintendo Wii U to make Smart Glass, but I do love Smart Glass. Also the Wii U looks like it could be fun too.

Pretty much that, I myself am very surprised that Nintendo are straying from their "consoles should only play games" mantra and it's a free service too which is nice. I probably wont use it that much as I watch everything on my PC but I do like what I've seen and it looks very slick and clean and it's like that straight from launch day. It'll be interesting to see what else they add especially with what the competition has already shown. What they may add will be something that just comes out of the blue, it'll be "oh yeah we've updated TVii...look at the cool shit it does now" kind of thing rather than spend 20 minutes at E3 plugging.
