In volume 6 of make magazine they have a 3 page tutorial on installing two leds in front of the lcd on your original gba. The parts are real cheap and im heading out to buy a soldering iron later today to try it out.
I might also paint my gba shell while I'm at it. Purples not really my color. Ill post pics of the frontlight process once i'm finished.

Few days ago i try to install lighting from compaqu pocketpc but voltage in gba is too low and screen is still to dark. :/
