As stated above.
Is it possible to put games on the USB memory without having the discs?

Yes if you have the downloaded ISO files on your computer you can use a GUI to add them to your usb drive.

so i dont have to create a back-up from original disks myself?
You won't.

um, i know this might sound dumb but...

i've always wanted to be able to dump my own games and play via a BACKUP copy, disc at least, this is great for temporary games i just want to try, but can this actually be used to backup games? because if your backing up a .iso file to the usb to be read, and the fact that you can change back the partition to be read on windows, would you be able to take that iso from there? thanks if anyone can help.

Uhm... I don't really get what you mean, but if you format the drive to WBFS with the loader and dump an iso on it (also with the loader), you should be able to copy it on a pc using a WBFS GUI program (no need to format it back to NTFS/FAT)

ok i have the usbloader running ...but the banner for it is so ugly...like after i run HBC, then i see all the apps...the banner for this is mucho ugly...like blag-blah boot.dol

is there a newer cooler one?....for ntsc

also, can i remove the other IOS installer app from the sdcard already?...since its been installed already and no point seeing it in the HBC

Go into SD:/apps/usbloader and change the icon.png to whatever you want. It doesnt really matter much anymore anyway since they got channels out for it now.

To delete go into SD:/apps/ and delete the IOS installer folder.

Ok, I saw somewhere that sometimes you need to disconnect other usbs so the loader could work well, what about the rockband instruments? do they work on the USB loader??

Maybe it's asked before...

But does this usbloader do a scrubb action on the orginal discs when it's dumped on the HDD?

SO... does it brickblock?

Thought I'd post here first instead of posting a thread.

The usb loader seem to work fine when loading and running games that have been copied from disc on the wii.

Whenever I try to run a game that I have added from my computer, Vista Ultimate x64, I get a "ret = 0" error, this happens for every game added from my computer.

I've searched for information on this error but have found no results, if anybody can help resolve this I'd be more than pleased.

Thanks

Gaz

Edit: sorted the problem i tried writing the games from a 32bit XP machine and it seemed to work fine, now i'll just have to keep using the 32bit or find a 64bit compatible program.

I've successfully put a few games on my harddisk using the usb channel,
but I get an error a lot of times after starting the USB channel loader (Exception (DSI) etc.)
Does anyone know why I get these errors.
Sometimes I have to reboot my Wii several times before I can start the USB channel again.

For those (like myself) getting a -1 error and have an unusable drive... does the -1 error pop up instantly for you? I'm trying to troubleshoot my system, to see if there's anyway I can't get things to work, and for me, it takes a good 20-30 seconds before the USB Loader shows the -1 error. (The text area stays blank until then.) I'm trying to determine if this is common for those with non-working drives, or unusual.

thanks for the guide. I was able to use an old 80 gig external that was jsut gathering dust, now i can save some stress on my 3.2U Wii

Worked without a hitch, dumping some games to the drive as i type this, thanks again =) Much better backup method than burning 3248732914 discs

Hello!

First and possibly last post from me.

[Yes] Newest Homebrew Channel installed
[Yes] This file pack (v1.1+IOS rev 9)
[Yes] The original IOS36-64-v1042.wad file
[Yes] Extract the usbloader.rar file into the root of your SD card.
[Yes] Stick the IOS36-64-v1042.wad file into the root of the SD card.
[Yes] Boot the Homebrew Channel, run the IOS installer
[Yes] Select "WAD Install", it should install automatically
[Yes] Reset Wii
[Yes] Insert a USB drive into the Wii
[Yes] Boot the homebrew channel, select USB-LOADER

So, everything above works fine.

However, nothing occurs after I load the USB-Loader (1.1)
I also used the newly released 1.2 version without success.

With Version 1.2, I can select my removable storage device (which it appears to detect) and it attempts to mount, but even after 30 seconds (and multiple minutes), there are is no response.

To try to get the USB Loader up and running, I have tried the following
I used the CIOS Remover (from Waninkoko) and applied the CIOS package
I used both USB ports on the WII
I used the 'WBFS' initialization utility

I am running an American Wii with System Update 4.0

Stuff that shouldn't matter, but might
I am just using the Wii Remote
There is a DVD-RW inserted (yet I tried this process without any discs inserted)
The storage device I am using is a 250GB internal hard drive formatted as NTFS and then 'WBFS ? init' to the Wii Backup File System connected by an SATA -> USB Cable (It looks something like this - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16812232002 )

Is there some additional information I should provide?

did you check if your device is compatible with the loaders??

http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/index.php/USB...patibility_List

Yes, I have already checked and it is not on the list

On my system, the device is detected as a 'JMicron' product.

If it helps out, there is no error message; I would expect to see an error code like other people have reported for other non-compatible products.

I'm having a problem running the USB Loader. I get the message: Could not initialize USB subsystem! (ret = -6), as opposed to ret = -1. Is this the same problem as -1, or is it something else?

I rolled back to 3.2U, uninstalled any CIOS and then installed CIOS rev 10.

Same result - I'll probably pick up another USB Storage Device.
