Hacking Tutorial to using USB Loader v1.1 and FAQs

Yes it is possible to rip backups using the USB Loader or the WBFS tool for windows/linux. However, this has only worked on 1:1/scrubbed backups that I DIDN'T patch using the backup-creator application. Any game that I patched through the backup-creator application on my Laptop fails to install, I just keep getting the error message "THIS IS NOT A WII DISC". We've had video patches, a WBFS tool for windows and solutions to other errors that occur in the loader, so I'm just looking for a solution to this one as well....can't anyone at least confirm that they have had a similar problem or explain why the discs are not recognised?

Lol my Link's Target Training game was patched. Have you tried reburning it, then ripping it to your USB?

is there a solution for the freezing problems during dumps?

/edit: got it up and running now. tried the third usb loader channel whichs finally works.

i already have hbc and backup loader working on my 3.4u wii....now i wanna try this usbloader thing...can i just go ahead and follow the instructions to install Usbloader, or do i need to uninstall something? Basically i want co-existence...be able to play dvd backups using my existing backuploader; and then sometimes use usbloader for games i did not burn... thanks.

I got this to work on a drive with a second partition pretty easily. I just booted my computer with the "GParted live cd" (Google it), then I took away 20GB from the main partition of my USB HDD and formatted the unallocated space as FAT32 (I dunno if this was necessary or not, but I did it anyways so I wouldn't have to format it later.) Then I formatted the partition as WBFS with the loader and it worked just fine.

Well. Have you been able to place isos on your partition via PC? That's the problem. I've got everything working at the moment except for that.
Yes I have, I installed SSBB DVD9 just fine. Did you try assigning it a drive letter in windows?

Actually yes. It asks to repartition the space or make a new logical partition out of it...
That's odd, are you using XP or Vista?

Hi guys,

I've read through this topic and haven't seen my problem pass by before.

I'm on a 3.4E system with nothing but the Twilight Hack and the homebrew channel installed (so no downgrade or other wad things). Now when I copy over the installer and the rev 9 wad and try to install it I get error -2011. Anyone has an idea of what this could be? Because every tutorial I read only says that you need homebrew installed for this to work.....

Never mind this post anymore. I've solved the problem by installing IOS16.wad and Cios249rev7 by using part of the softmii package. After this the cios rev9 installer worked like a charm on my 3.4E system and so does the USB Loader 1.1.

Xp.

I have wii with dead drive (not spinning the disc). Tried the loader, and worked like a charm, till Metroid Prime3. The moment you start the game from the loader, asks for "game disc". Huh?
Well, i thought i can't loose anything, i've inserterd the DVD, and THE GAME STARTED

And since i knew that the wii wasn't reading anything from the disc, i tricked it and inserted another game, and ... .... MP3 Corruption STARTED!

Xp.
Could you give a screencap of the error?

Here's a screenshot.

Basically, it's not so much an error as much as it is Xp refusing to recognize the partition as healthy. The only options I have are New Logical Drive or Delete Partition. Both of those I do not want obviously... Sooo... I'm kinda' stuck between a rock in a hard place...

Before anyone asks, yes, I did partition it to FAT32 (as well as set it up as K:) and THEN use Waninkoko's USB Loader v1.0 on it to format the drive. I bring it back to the computer every time to find that it's refusing to recognize it as a drive...

EDIT: Hey, got it to recognize the drive as healthy. Finally...

might be useful to post what you did, in case others have the same problem.

or did XP just start deciding to recognise the partition ?

Select 'New Logical Partition.' go through the thing making sure not to select anything that may reformat it. At the end it should assign a drive name and consider the drive healthy. Sorry I can't be more detailed, I forget most of it. It's simply common sense once you start going through it though...

Hi,
I get this error when i try to install usb2 "failed to alocate temp buffer for encrypted content, size was 0".
What should I do?

Well... It seems all my troubles are not over... I install the games, but the loader does not see them. I'm guessing that my program's bad or something... So would anyone like to direct me towards the best WBFS program? I have like... 10 so far...
