I did use sseq2midi a little in the past, which is pretty much the same thing, but for DS games, and I can say that you may be able to get the MIDIs to sound pretty good just by changing the instruments with a MIDI editor to something that sounds relatively similar, some songs will just be impossible to get to sound good without making a soundfont. I have no idea how you'd go about doing that.
However, SGM v2.01 seems to be a popular soundfont to use for VGM and you might have more success getting the ripped music to sound good with it. There's an in_asyfon plugin that allows you to use soundfonts in winamp, foobar also has an in_midi plugin that supports soundfonts. If you get a result that sounds good, you can use either of those players to convert the song into a MP3 or other format.

However, there's no way to convert MIDI to CSEQ just yet, it's a one-way conversion.
