How did you fix it? I'm stuck with the blue screen every time I try to boot the cfw.

I've found that going into the Profile setting and waiting 3 seconds to tap profile works more than just tapping it immediately, but it's all anecdotal evidence over like 10 trials so I wouldn't trust it.

Will MT loader load emuNAND created from 9.2 NAND backup made by GW?
If so, will eShop work after upgrading emuNAND to 9.4?
Will I be able to download titles bought in this emuNAND on a real NAND after updating?

I have these same questions. The emuNAND tool doesn't seem to be able to read the MT card formatted emuNNAD and refuses to inject the 9.2 NAND as it can't find a GW emuNAND partition. Is ther any reason we have to use the MT card launcher rather than the GW one?

I've tried over 20 times both holding L and not holding it. What files should be on the SD card? I have the "Nintendo 3DS" folder and arm9_code.bin, arm11_code.bin, boot.bin, and launcher_gw.dat(renamed to launcher.dat) all from the cfw SD card folder.

Edit: I also fail every diagnostic test if I use the 3.0.1 Launcher.dat

ok also when I try to find my IP on my 3ds
it comes up as 10.0.0.00
and when I go to run.bat with my IP
it tells me Failed To Connect
can someone please help me or upload a tutorial on how to do this

i'm stuck in
13. Now, go into Other —> Profile. Hold down the L button, and tap DS Profile. If all goes well, the bottom screen will flash white and the CFW will load. If not, simply reboot the system by holding down power and trying again. Make sure to hold L while you do it.

Hold down the L button, and tap DS Profile it flash white low screen and go black. top screen go cyan. after that my old 3ds freeze. i reboot more then 10 time still like that.
i Downgrade form 9.2 to 4.2 us.

sorry for my english

Yea, this part will take a few times. What you are looking for is the bottom screen to flash white, as you said. It won't do it every time. If it flashes white, just wait a little bit and it will boot back into the home screen. If it doesn't flash white, you have to manually reboot and try again.

oh thank bro. it work.

Awesome.
Now I've got a 4.2U 3DS with 9.4U emuNAND. I can't do much with 4.2 outside of Ninjhax, but at least I've got a fail-safe for when CFW improves.

The main purpose is to give you a way to have both legit and illicit ways of playing games. The 4.5 CFW allows you to play CIAs up to 6.0 (possibly beyond, with firmware spoofing and what not.) The 9.4 EmuNAND lets you download Eshop games etc. as well as letting you play retail cartridges.
It actually is very cool. If you have legit games, like most of us do now, it enables online play since you can update the titles. My biggest concern with downgrading is losing online play or playing altogether! Smash needs 8.1 or higher, so its either a lengthy restore process or don't play. Now I just have to switch SD cards and enter the settings, BAM.

For now, piracy only works on 4.x CFW, so only a limited # of titles works. From what I understand, Govanify leaked the CFW and the 7.x encryption key, no one has taken the reigns on furthering the CFW though. I'm sure it's possible but you'd have to reverse engineer gateway.
The idea is that you have one SD card for CFW and all the cool stuff that brings, and another separate SD card with 9.4 EmuNAND for people who want to still have access to the latest firmware, access the eshop, play online with legit carts etc. Best of both worlds.
Yeah you're all right. I somehow missed the fact that I'm able to update and download my eshop games with this again. That's actually pretty awesome. Thanks!

Just to make sure, i have a 3ds XL on firmware 9.2, i own the software download of pokemon Y. If i down grade to 4.5 i can run roms up to firmware 7.0, and have an emuNand at 9.4; with that emuNAND would it be possible to transfer over my pokemon y save game somehow and still play it online?

Thanks.

How do I install the bigbluemenu without a redcard on the emunand?

You can't, provided you are talking about the 9.4 emunand. 9.4 emunand functions exactly like as if you were actually on that version. In order to get devmenu/bigbluemenu on there, you'd need a gateway card. If, however, you mean on a 4.X emunand, then you can follow the instructions for the 4.5 CFW and install it as it says. But if you want both 4.5 CFW and 9.4 emunand, then you need 2 SD cards. As the guide mentions.

Yes and no. If you own pokemon Y already (and made a save), that save will NOT work if you are on sysnand 4.X. UNLESS you own a gateway and boot into 9.X classic mode emunand. You CAN play pokemon Y still, by having your sysnand on 4.X and having an emunand on 9.X. Then use the typical method to boot into emunand. This will use 4.X saving though, which means it won't be compatible with 9.X sysnands (if you ever update, or try to share the cartridge). Online WILL work, provided it's fully updated and you are on all the latest updates of things. The only problem would be the save file. Which is stuck on 9.X or 4.X depending on when you created it.

This happens for all 6.X save games. Even retail cartridges. In order to play these with a 4.X sysnand you either have to delete the save, or get a gateway and boot it in the emunand. As it stands, I personally have a few unplayable retail games because I don't want to delete the saves. You could also just stay on 9.2 sysnand, get 9.4 emunand, and just play pokemon online. DON'T downgrade if you want to keep your file. You can, though, if you are buying a gateway. Online isn't effected by any of this.

can i still use my eshope games i have on 9.2nand in emunand 9.4?

Provided you don't unlink, yes. The other way works as well. Go into 9.4 emunand eShop, buy a game, and boot into 9.2 sysnand and play (or even 4.X sysnand). Provided the game doesn't require 9.4. If you unlink, this isn't possible.

Edit: I should mention, that if you are using a CFW second SD, then be careful about downloads. The title/db files, as well as the games themselves will be split between the two cards. As long as you are using sysnand 9.2 and emunand 9.4 with a single card, this method will work fine. Seeing as they both read the same files from the SD (besides NAND obviously). So when you download, it uses the same NAND information for the encryption. Same goes for the save files. If you unlink/format, they won't, and the unlinked one will create a new set of files.

Just wanted to say thanks for the guide, It helped me set everything up, as of now I am waiting to recieve my GW3DS, but untill then, I can play all my games but omega ruby and smt 4 on the cfw. Again thanks for the guide.

Alright, theoretically i could stay on 9.2 sysnand, upgrade my emunand to 9.4 and use the same save game online? I just need to be able to access the pokemon bank and upload a few of my pokemon and then i wouldn't mind downgrading the version and starting over again with a new save game as long as i can access the pokemon bank again after the process is complete. Would this work? If so how would i go about doing it?

Thanks alot,
Xel

Yes, if your save works on 9.2 sysnand, that means it's a 6.0+ save. So if you run 9.4 (either sysnand, or emunand), provided it's the same format (no unlinking), then the game will work as if you simply updated your 3DS with no hacks. And, naturally, online will work as it should. I'm not sure what Pokebank's save thing is (if it even matters). But yes, if you upload your pokemon on 9.2/9.4, and then downgrade to 4.X/9.4 it should work. I'm not all that familiar with pokemon, but would reimporting your pokemon work even after you delete the save? Or a similar question: can you use someone else's save game to import/export pokemon to your poke bank? If the answer is yes, then this should work.

1. Stay on 9.2 sysnand and 9.4 emunand, be sure they are linked (so software/saves work on both). Boot up 9.4 emunand (update to it if needed).
2. Transfer pokemon to pokebank. This should work just as if you were on legit 9.4.
3. Delete pokemon save (on 9.2, though it doesn't matter, since they are linked).
4. Downgrade sysnand to 4.5.
5. Boot up 9.4 emunand, and play pokemon, creating a new file.
6. Exit pokemon, enter poke bank and reimport pokemon.

This should in theory work, provided poke bank doesn't have any weird restrictions/problems with the pokemon save game. If I had to wager a guess, there's a chance it might not work if Poke bank is expecting a 6.0+ save.

If you just want to play online, you don't actually need to downgrade. Restarting the save is ONLY necessary if you want to have sysnand 4.X. If you are ALREADY on 9.2, just leave that, and update emunand to 9.4. Then play on emunand like normal. This will work fine for online.

So to be absolutely clear, here are your options:

1. Back up pokemon from your 6.0+ save file, clear the save game, downgrade to 4.X, restart save and import pokemon (reimporting might not work, if it requires a 6.0+ save).
2. Stay on 9.2 sysnand, and update your emunand to 9.4. This will allow you to play pokemon just as usual.

The difference is the end sysnand you will be on. If you end on sysnand 4.X, then you can do 4.X stuff, like CFW. But all of your saves MUST be in 4.X saves (rather than 6.0+) otherwise they won't load (you can get around this by having a gateway and running classic mode, that will load your 6.0+ saves). If you end on sysnand 9.2, your 4.X saves for 6.0+ games won't work. Which if you have been playing legit retail games and are on 9.2, this shouldn't be a problem.

Hopefully this all makes sense. It just depends on your goal. Your pokemon save will work as long as your are above 6.0 sysnand. Or are using gateway classic mode (WITH a gateway cartridge).

Your 6.0+ games WON'T work if you are IN (currently loaded) 4.X sysnand. To play them, you'd need to boot into 9.4 emunand. Alternatively, if you stay on 9.2 sysnand, they WILL work, regardless of whether you are in sysnand or emunand. emunand 9.4 will allow you to play online, while 9.2 sysnand isn't that important, besides ensuring save compatibility WITHOUT a gateway card (with a gateway card it doesn't matter).
