So with this, I can install CIAs of any game that needs <7.x FW, without using a 3DS flashcart? (just a NDS flashcart that is 4.2 compatible)

Also, I don't think I can reformat because I have the update nag on my 9.2.0 sysNAND.

Third, Can I do emuNAND without doing CFW? I don't like that CFW isn't stable. I'd rather just keep my 3DS in sleep or re-exploit thru the browser each time.

hi, quite new to this. will i run into save issues with 9.4 emunand and 4.5 sysnand? I have saves for for retail carts of pokemon oras/xy and saves for eshop 3u, how would i go about transferring them?
All im really interested in at this point is getting back onto eshop/multiplayer with my retail carts, and make the most of the opportunity for CFW while im on 9.2. thanks

you cant take your saves over to the CFW, you can use the MT launcher to use 9.4 emunand with your retail cards, but you cant use any saves made in 6.x+ games made on 6.x+ sysnand........only way to do that is by having a gateway card and keeping your sysnand on 6.x+ and using the browser exploit instead, then you can use your saves in classic mode

the onlt way to install cia files without a 3DS mode card is with the buggy cfw, thats limited to 4.x only

you can however use the MT launcher to have emunand 9.4, but you can only use classic mode for playing retail cards......but any games that are 6.x+ will loose their saves,

only free way of doing anything is by downgrading to 4.x, th browser exploit is only usable for gateway users or people wanting to downgrade to use the "cfw"

Pro tips here -
1. Do NOT update from a GAME CART on EmuNAND, for me (maybe I screwed up IDK) it updated my SysNAND. Beware.
2. To run the CFW exploit I find that it works reliably if I power off the 3DS. Boot up, go to Settings. When entering the profile, once its loaded - I count out loud, 1-2-3 and press Nintendo DS Profile. Worked on 1st try a few times, again IDK maybe I'm knuts.

Did you enter in Settings, checked the version, then left settings and updated? If so, that could be the issue as I just found out that leaving settings will get you back to the sysnand.

Now I booted again classic mode and went to the settings, checked if it's MT3D 4.5, then I've updated directly from the settings. It should be fine, right?

The main purpose is to give you a way to have both legit and illicit ways of playing games. The 4.5 CFW allows you to play CIAs up to 6.0 (possibly beyond, with firmware spoofing and what not.) The 9.4 EmuNAND lets you download Eshop games etc. as well as letting you play retail cartridges.

This may have been my mistake. I probably did go into settings to check and sure enough that disables the nand emulation. Thats why I said it may have been my fault, but I know I'm not taking that risk again!

I realized after the fact that entering system settings makes all hacks stop working.

It actually is very cool. If you have legit games, like most of us do now, it enables online play since you can update the titles. My biggest concern with downgrading is losing online play or playing altogether! Smash needs 8.1 or higher, so its either a lengthy restore process or don't play. Now I just have to switch SD cards and enter the settings, BAM.

For now, piracy only works on 4.x CFW, so only a limited # of titles works. From what I understand, Govanify leaked the CFW and the 7.x encryption key, no one has taken the reigns on furthering the CFW though. I'm sure it's possible but you'd have to reverse engineer gateway.

The idea is that you have one SD card for CFW and all the cool stuff that brings, and another separate SD card with 9.4 EmuNAND for people who want to still have access to the latest firmware, access the eshop, play online with legit carts etc. Best of both worlds.

You cannot downgrade 9.4, or even use Gateway on 9.4. The exploit does not work on 9.3 or above.

If you have not yet updated to 9.4, stay on your older firmware and use the Gateway launcher to set up an EmuNAND. This can then be updated to 9.4 without updating your console.

No, you Need to ne on Firmware 9.2 or lower to downgrade your 3DS. The n3DS can't be downgraded

I don't understand why the people working CFW just jumped ship when govanify leaked it. Like, yeah, it sucks, but it's not like a movie where a leak takes away from profits. if the work you're doing is free, keep working. sad...

It's not so much that they jumped ship, more that they were dissuaded even more from making the CFW public. It was never intended to be release publically in the first place.
