Basically: He installed 4.3 with THC installed. He still is able to get to the Homebrew Channel, but now cannot run any of this backups.

I'm averagely knowledgeable on Wii Modding, but I haven't ran into a problem where I updated without doing the correct things first (Or updating in the first place.)

I know that because of this, ios 249 and 250 are stubbed, I realized that when he showed me when I was walking him through how to install d2x v8 via the installer, so my question is:

Is there anyway to save these or is there a different method of installing cios?

You can always go back to using a WAD manager on cIOS236 method, Modmii will collect all the needed files, build the d2x cIOSs, and create a guide for you. I'd just install all the wads it creates but you really only need the cIOSs 202-250 and the SM IOSs 11, 20, 30, 40, 50, 52, 60, 70, and 80. (SM4.3 runs on IOS80 but good to have them all)
And then install Priiloader (and enable block update hacks) to block future attempts to update.

That still doesn't answer my question regarding the certain ioses in question, as those are the ones I need to fix. I'm assuming that by your answer that Modmii installs the cios over the stub, or do I need to remove it first and then install the cios? That's basically the only thing stopping me from helping him is that I don't know if removing the 249 stub and then installing the cios version of it will brick his Wii.

EDIT: In my searches I've come across this guide as well: http://gwht.wikidot.com/d2x, and it seems to install cios on ones that are not stubs, wondering if this is a viable option?

That's exactly what ModMii will let you do. Install cIOS non-stubbed. Try to run ModMii and tell it that its your first time to softmod the wii, and you should be fine.
