Well, you seem to be just as harsh as those who are. Like I said earlier, I'm sorry for not being a masterful god nerd (like some seem to be). I'm not an expert or even a beginner in back ups and all that shit. I'm a newbie in case it wasn't F***IN obvious. Oh, and I'm sorry for your desk.
Keep in mind, this isn't a flame post; I get flamed here a lot for being a noob as well.

Basically, if game companies made piracy as easy as burning a disk, they would be complete morons and nobody would publish games on them. Look at the Dreamcast--it wasn't a bad system, but it was too easy to pirate on, and it failed.

Tl;dr: Really, you shouldn't assume that it's going to be that easy. However, as you said, you don't know much, so I don't blame you for not knowing.

And to everybody else: He said something stupid because he didn't know about how stuff worked. He realizes that, and you don't need to continue flaming.

There should be a new step to creating an account on this site. You should have to type out "GC ISOs cannot be played from the Wii's USB or SD card slots", and "GBA ROMs cannot be played from an R4 without a slot-2 expansion".

It wasn't? It's hard to know what is and what isn't then. Anyways, I got the message, so now I won't need more help on the matter. Oh and Thoob, that's a good idea, you should suggest it.

Nope, there's nothing bad with it. It has those sockets, and it plays gamecube games just fine.

I kinda guessed that, but I wasn't sure between "joke", "sarcasm" and "insult", so I just replied normally

Hum, no

ISO = CD image, named like this because .iso is (was ?) a common file format when ripping CD
ROM = Cartridge image, named like this because cartridges usually store the game program/data on PROM chips (Programmable & Read-Only memory)

Calling ISOs "ROMs" just because they came from CD-ROM only lead to confusion.

I recently started downloading GC roms and homebrew and whatnot, *following multiple steps I've found on the Internet*. I got to finally format my SD card, and I downloaded a bunch of different files which I put on my card. All this seemed fine, but when I inserted the SD card into my Wii, it said the SD card "wouldn't work" or something along those lines. *I tried finding a step by step guide with terms or methods I could understand, but with no luck. I tried and tried over again, but it just won't work. What could I possibly be doing wrong?

*That, in other words, means using Google.

all you had to do was to do some research, need I say anymore

Nope, I understand (even though all my research led to absolutely nothing, so my last resort was to ask somewhere with experts in the matter). Also, I like your name.

... And how do you close a topic?

I always thought Saturn emulation would straight up be impossible

Just the atchiture is insanely complex

That's why it annoys me when people rant about things being impossible when it comes to software some things should just be focused on more than others

    they sorta are a pc
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
but its a custom os for both of them
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
    designed for only specific hardware
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It's a locked down Linux distro basically
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They place married security chips onto boards iirc

Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful

Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
