I didn't know the consequences of updating to 11.4, but I did it. I want to downgrade to a lower firmware using safeSysUpdater, but I ran into a problem. I can access the homebrew menu through Cubic Ninja, and I can access the application. I've done all that all the forums say for the steps (making updates folder and putting .cia files in it, and so on). But when I press Y to downgrade, I get "HAX INIT..." and it stays there. Does anyone know what this is? Or am I trying to do the impossible?

you CANT there is NO going back after you update to 11.4

not until a new way is released to downgrade (if one is even coming)
The sad thing is I updated just a few days before I learned about homebrewing. How long could it take for new homebrew methods to be developed for 11.4? If it's a while, then I might stick with the Cubic Ninja route. Is that a decent long term way? Or could that be gone soon too?

A day, a week, 5 years? Nobody knows, because we can't see the future. If we could, I think we'd be buying lottery tickets instead of answering forum posts.

11.4 actually added another NATIVE_FIRM requirement as well fixed the exploit found in 11.3. This has basically rendered 11.4 impossible to hack for the time being.
You best bet is one of 3 thing
Wait it out
Sell your system and buy a new one
Buy a Sky3DS
