Hardware Transferring data between two 3DS on different firmware

It is possible to transfer data from a O3DS on 9.0 to O3DS on 11.0? The transfer tool is out of the question as it forces you to download the latest firmware. I wish to install CFW on the older 3DS.

There is one way to do this. Install emunand on your 9.0 and update emunand to the latest version. Then use the transfer tool to transfer from your data. After you're done you can delete emunand again.

Don't I have to format the SD card when installing emunand? Should I be ok If just backup the root of the SD card?

Save the files on your computer and restore them when you're done. I don't think that there are any files that you can't get back on your SD card after making emunand.

I'm trying to transfer pokemon x and its game saves from the 9.0 3ds to the 11.0 3ds. I intend to install cfw on the 9.0 3ds.
