Hi guys. Has Nintendo said anything on how the transfer process will work from Switch 1 to Switch 2? I thought I read that Profile(s) and games will transfer over, but what about if you have games on an mSD card? I am concerned because my mSD in my OLED Switch is 1.5TB, and at my Apartment, my internet speed is only 80 mbps. Even with the 64GB storage on the System itself, transfer would probably take a bit for me. Thoughts appreciated :)

That's the fun part, you are going to have to buy Express SD cards, or something to that effect. Half the capacity for double the price, cause Nintendo™ Switch 2 tech can't function without them.

Is this seriously what people are complaining about now? Look I get people love to hate on Nintendo but this comment isnt even logical.

No if all your stuff fits in the 256GB sysnand then you don't need one.
Well crap, on my 1.5TB mSD in my OLED Switch, I only have about 200GB of free space. Would I be able to just reformat the 1.5 mSD card before initializing transfer process to Switch 2?

Wait a sec, I plan to get a mSD Express card, but are you saying that I would need one in the S2 to even boot the System and initiate transfer process?

No I just mean you can't use the 1.5tb micro sd you have in switch 2. You should be able to start the transfer regardless if you have a micro sd express inserted in switch 2. But if you have a big switch 1 library then it might cause you some problems if you download everything.

I understand. I am just wondering if only games on OLED System transfer over, or also games already on OLED Switch 1.5tb mSD. I am hoping just games on the System itself transfer as I can't find an 1.5tb mSD Express card, and Nintendo said that it downloads games automatically after the Transfer process finishes...

Like I said you would have to redownload your games if it is digital as it is linked to your library, keep in mind largest micro sd express is 1tb and cost $200

Yeah Micro SD Express is still a rather niche format. It's been around for quite a while it's just the demand has been so low that we havent gotten better ones.

Hi guys. I am planning on getting an mSD Express card, but the 1TB card is sold out currently on Amazon. I could probably go with a 512GB card, but really prefer the 1TB card. Anyone know of any sites that have the 1TB mSD Express card for purchase? I am based in the US (Iowa). Also, should I purchase an mSD Express card before I even get a Switch 2? Help appreciated :)

Not really complaining as much as just stating facts. Why not just use both formats? ChatGPT says it's (depending on device) possible to use normal SD cards in Express slots. I don't really care by the time I buy a Switch 2 (once they are hacked) the cost will be less significant.

it can use normal microsd cards to transfer screenshots and videos

Hi again guys. I contacted Nintendo Support last night, and asked the rep how the transfer process would work in general since my OLED Switch has an 1.5TB mSD, and the largest mSD Express for S2 is 1TB. She said the transfer process can be done over local wifi connection, but also said that everything on S1 would be uploaded to Server, and downloaded to S2, and then the source S1 would be wiped/initialized. She didn't specify if I could choose between local wifi transfer, or Server upload/download. I asked her if there was a way to just transfer Nintendo Account and game library, without the S2 automatically downloading games, and she said no. Last night and today, I have been deleting games that I haven't played for while on my OLED S1 mSD, in preparation for the System Transfer process. At my Apartment, my internet sucks as it is only 80 MBPS, but at my parents place, they have a much faster internet. For the transfer process, does download speed, or upload speed matter more? On my OLED Switch at my Apartment, the upload speed is much slower than download speed (I ran an internet speed test on the Switch). How do you guys recommend proceeding, should I do Transfer at my Apartment, or at my Parent's place? Thoughts and help appreciated :)

When I was watching the direct, I was very confused why they switched to Express SD cards. I've never seen one of those in my life.
