Ok, thanks so much! But, should I get a 2nd Switch and keep 2nd one online/legit? My main concern is missing out on new and upcoming games if I just have 1 Switch. If I keep my only Switch offline, I won't be able to access eshop and update games I already have. If I save my next 2 paychecks, I can get a 2nd Switch.
CFW on Switch only last until you restart the system, so you can restart your system and it'll be like nothing ever happened

Hi guys. I am very new to the Switch Hacking scene. I ordered a Jig from Amazon, as well as an USB to C cable. My concern is whether or not I should proceed with hacking. As far as that goes, I would only be doing Save Editing, but only for offline save use. I hardly ever play games online on my Switch. Debating on whether or not to hack comes down to the following:

- What is my ban risk if I only do the Save Editing?
- Don't really want to miss out on new and upcoming games (Mega Man 11, Smash, etc.). This and above are 2 main concerns.
- Worth hacking? I only have 1 Switch, no access to TX SX OS or whatever that is...

Thoughts on all of this GREATLY appreciated :)
Theres always ban risk but if you are only using xci it should be rather low.
I suggest SX OS because of the fact it supports xci and others (currently) dont.

Not necessarily. I don't know anyone who has been banned for only using ReiNX but there are plenty of people who were banned for using SX OS. .XCI are not that much safer statistically speaking. And if .NSP games were the culprit behind those bans, then people without SX OS who were using .NSP games would be banned but that is not the case currently.

This question has also already been answered for you, but I'll answer it again.
  1. If all you're going to do is edit save files, then you probably won't be banned, even if you connect your Switch to the internet.
  2. If you want a 0% chance of being banned, then you should either a.) not do anything with save-editing, or b.) keep your Switch disconnected from the internet.
  3. If you choose to keep your Switch disconnected from the internet, you can still play new games on your Switch. You can also install new game updates using Tinfoil without connecting your Switch to the internet.

  1. We're not talking about game-piracy.
  2. People have been banned for only using XCI backups.

What is Xci? Is that a game format?

Is that so? I thought that (also looking at the thread) that most of the bans occur after the installation of NSP. Am I wrong?

Not entirely. Bans have started happening late June while .NSP support was implemented towards the end of July. Not to mention that are people banned for using only .XCI and both .XCI and .NSP. What this could mean is either .XCI are getting people banned or its a coincidence that people were banned for using .XCI and .NSP together; if .NSP were the true culprit of getting people banned, then that would be reflected across all CFW however that is not the case. One of the biggest reasons is because SX OS is the only CFW to support raw .XCI loading which has statistically led to more bans than .NSP alone. It is also possible that the first banwave only hit .XCI users and the second banwave will strike .NSP users, however at the current time .XCI is about as unsafe as .NSP (if not more).

Thanks so much! Yes, all I want to do is save editing. I still want to use internet access for eshop and game updates though. Majority of my games are from eshop.

For numerous reasons, physical games are recommended over eShop games, especially if you plan on doing any hackery.

Theres nothing preventing you from using the internet after editing your save files and going back into ofw

I only want to hack a few games (Zelda BoTW, Xeno 2, Mario Odyssey) those which are physical. For eshop games, I was only going to download saves and use those.

What I mean to say is that physical games are a better investment financially. Not only do they have resale value, but you're definitely not going to get locked out of your purchases from a hyperban down the road.

In other words, you have more to lose with legitimately purchased eShop titles.

Ok, thanks so much for your help and info! Very much appreciated! My last concern is the looming 6.0 System Firmware that is coming very soon. Should I hold off on updating? I thought the RCM mode couldn't be patched out. Is that the same for hakate and reihax and such? Clarification appreciated :)

Always hold off until you know whats happening. Thats quite selfobvious isnt it?
Also you have a pm

With their Direct presentation, I have decided in proceed to hackment. I figured that I don't have much to loose by being banned, and have already unlinked my console and account.

I did not buy any eShop game for the Switch yet.
