It is moderately priced, but considering I will soon be able to play Zelda Ocarina of Time in 3D on a handheld...it is worth it!

Looking back it was slightly expensive at launch. I only got the one game (SSFIV) and there's hardly anything else worth picking up that catches my eye.

Haha I got one from a local forum at a great price. Now I'm saving up for games

The price of the 3DS marks the first time that Nintendo actually failed at making a good price in my books.

They're known for keeping their products well built, lots of games, and keeping their consoles super cheap and affordable. Sadly the 3DS failed in the price range. I won't be getting a 3DS for a while because of the price, but if I do, I'll get it used. Not to not give Nintendo any of my money, I would love to, but if I can find a cheaper price whether it means Nintendo gets money or not, I'm taking it. Anything over $200.00 for a handheld is ridiculously high imo.

Hmm... Ninty's previous XL cost $200... PSPs all cost more than $220 (at launch). I'm not surprised at the $249.99 price point at all (for the US, that is. Our local price is far worse) due to it being said to be 'more powerful' than the wii (not proven).

I think Nintendo has gotten a big head recently, the 3DS price point shows you how desperate and obsessed they think gamers are, there's no way it costs even $200 to manufacture. They forget that it's mostly kids and parents who want these things, and neither of those groups has $250 to throw around + $40 per game. I'm not surprised the PSP is already outselling the 3DS in Japan

I think it's moderately priced.
And that most people that complain haven't checked prices of it anywhere outside North America or mainland Europe, because we, the ones that do live outside those territories, have to pay a lot more.

That might be true that the PSP is outselling the 3DS in Japan, but if you look at the world wide totals for just the last week the 3DS has sold more than the PSP+PS3 combined
3DS 248,000 units
PSP+PS3 216,000 units

250$ isn't that bad of a price anyway I got 3 of them at launch (for me, wife and daughter). Once the big titles start to come out the 3DS will only sell even more and regardless of how much it costs people WILL buy it just like they do any other device. When it comes to Nintendo people have bought and trusted in Nintendo products for over 20 years they could sell it for $300+ and people would still buy it.

Because all the stuff in it (which is way more than a XL -> or down) doesn't matter? You thinking handheld = ridiculously.

But annoying the stuff pack into it. It has more stuff then the psp(using it to compare price to hardware), but at the same time has much more stuff with only a little boost in price.

So they are trying to keep the consoles super cheap, you have to be reasonable.

Just be glad they are not Apple. The price would sky rocket.

Although there is other stuff they need to pay for than that,but...

I mean they need a least make some profit.

You know this how?

We don't have to check out other prices that's why. We only have to worry about the price that WE have to pay.

It has more stuff? Sure, but stuff that people will probably use once in a while just to see what it's like. I don't know anybody who takes pictures with their camera or plays music on it. Motion control is stupid because no matter how good it is, it'll never be perfect.

Handheld gaming ridiculous? Uh no, I love gaming on handhelds. I probably do it more than on consoles. I just think the stuff that's in it, it's going to fade out and never be used in games just like the Microphone did with the DS systems.

Also, the 3DS doesn't take $200 dollars to make. It only takes around $100.00.

True, but all she saying is you should be grateful.

I meant handheld price = ridiculous.

Possibility of fading out doesn't mean it would fade out. Plus they still have the microphone it isn't dead yet.

Which doesn't matter the stuff is there. Just because you don't get some games that don't use the functions
doesn't mean they didn't try to give you those features at a fair price.

That approximated component cost that excluded other cost.

I am not going to lie, it's incredibly difficult to understand a lot of the stuff you type.

I don't mean that the Microphone is dead. I'm just saying, NO games use it, like at all. Well games worth playing and not the shovelware.

I look at it like this the PSPGo is the same price. This system is fully backwards compatible. When the update you will be able to even transfer your DSiware games. When the PSPGO came out if you only had UMDs you were stuck out. That's why a PSPGo at 250 is stupid, but a 3DS at 250 is ok!

The mic still has a chance to be put in more worthy games.

Hopefully it be use for voice chat.

What part of my post are you not understanding?

The mic does have a chance, but I think it has more to do with people not wanting to look like fools in public talking to their DS.

I've found on games like Zelda:PH that the parts where you are supposed to yell in the mic work just as well if you simply blow into the mic.
