WHY is Ninty selling the 3DS for $250 when it under $100 cost?

I'm not buying till brand new it's $150.
for profit .
how else are you going to be making money if you sell it for that price ?
i don't see this going to be priced @150 anytime soon .

it'd be at that point after a few generations of handhelds pass . the cheapest is possibly $200 or $175 for a few years .

BTW, the DS Lite was (maybe slightly) cheaper to make than the 3DS and it already cost $149.99

The 3DS will never go down to $150, not even $200.

I'm going to get mine here. Although it is $399, qisahn actually offers a free Hori protector plus case (not Hori but PJ, which is not official; I don't mind cuz i will be using the cradle). Together with 1 year warranty, paying an extra $30 - 40 doesn't seem so bad.

All prices are in SGD. As of 15/4, SGD1 = US$0.80

and that is why pulsar games suck)

I don't think it is expensive.

I have a job, and not really any bills besides gas. I get paid $160 a week, and it was announced nearly a year before it came out. So obviously it was a joke for me to get because I had money put to the side right after E3.

What if you didn't have a job (but have an allowance of about US$5/day), no utilities, and didn't save up? Would that be expensive?

I'm in the "if you have a job with decent pay than its ok," camp. I'm a Uni student but I could buy myself one with some saving and working. My problem with the 3DS price was at how the UK RRP (£230) was noticably more expensive than the US price for the same device. I just really resent paying that much more for it.

Well, yeah but it would still be affordable.

Fortunately, that's not the case.

If I live in the states, I can enjoy the luxury of 'cheaper' gaming.

Games here are seriously expensive (if you do not consider the shipping rates)

$350 Australian dollars is way too expensive, especially when our currency is better than US dollar, 1 aussie dollar = 1.05 US. I would have like to have paid around $300, even though the US paid $250. It is BS.

Umm, you know JB Hi-Fi sells them for $300? at least they did last I checked.

OT: Judging by what I've heard, it's well worth the price, but that doesn't change the fact it's insanely expensive (At least to a 15 yr old with no job & ambitions) I have yet to actually use one, but it's safe to say I'll be getting one as soon as I scrounge enough money... Hopefully a price drop by then?

...Yeah, right.

3DS price in Russia is from 444 to 568 bucks.
Average 3DS game price is 89 bucks. So stop complain about "OH MAI GAWD IT'S 300 DOLLARZ", we got worst price than all of you.

Well, I pay rent, then around $60 in non-apr based bills (insurance, netflix, etc lolz), then about $200 in apr-based bills, plus a girlfriend, so to me being able to COMFORTABLY buy a 3DS is tough. Granted I could use a credit card like any one else in the world, I will not go that route. I also feel like every one should have at least 1,500 in their account at all times for emergencies, so to dip in to it for a handheld is meh, not what I'd want to do.

I wish the price was just a tad lower, or that there was some place that offered a REASONABLE trade-in value for your DSi. Gamestop wanted to give me like $70 for mine, and it's in seriously mint condition. It's barely been touched, it looks so sexy. It has the Tekcase on it, which is incredible, also sexy, and expensive. They'd probably give like $1 for that.

I hate to say it, but to me the selling point on buying a 3DS is me waiting for word on if it's possible for future flashcards to work on them...Games are expensive, too. The day flashcarts are announced, I will toss money at the nearest store for a 3DS.

The price is FAIR (in the USA, anyway), dont get me wrong. My thoughts on it are that it is more than fair, it's reasonable - I just can't bite the bullet and buy it because I feel like I'm paying more than I can and should, given my current income, and the fact that I only play handhelds for rare situations, such as waiting in long lines.

I found it at 232 euro...
I'm gonna buy it. when nintendo decides to release a very hot tilte..
Because this shop here in greece is very famous every day i check their web site the 3ds price goes down more and more...

I ordered it for 249 Euro at Amazon - I thought it was just OK. But when it came out, they dropped the price to 222 EUR and refunded the difference. Plus they added a free game

Well, only one of: The Sims, Asphalt or Super Monkey Ball. I chose Super Monkey Ball..for a free game it's fun

So overall I am happy with it.
