Okay, i've extracted the script from HG/SS into a 'blah.xml' file!
I open the file in notepad....I see the JAP i want to translate, and I translate it. I then save the 'blah.xml' file.

How do i put the newly translated 'blah.xml' back into the HG/SS.nds ROM???

I see there's quite a few posts about thenewpoketext, but none explain how to compile the HG/SS.nds ROM again??

Please someone write a quick tutorial for me, not from the start, but from the part I have mentioned above.
This'll really help me out, Im pretty good at JAP you know, could help the boys out with their translation!!

    cheers for all replies

    ok,

when you finnish the translating the 'blah.xml' follow these:

    1. With the newpoketext open, when you can type in a command (when you see a '>' (enter you rom name if you havn't done so)), type in "patch yourxml.xml" ( in your case, replace yourxml.xml with blah .xml) without the quotes.

    2. in you rom temp folder. The msg.narc file has been updated. cut and paste the msg.narc to the a/0/2 folder (or whatever the original files was in), paste the msg.narc there. Delete the '7' file and rename the masg.narc to '7' (make sure it has no .narc extension).

    3. In the newpoketext type in "mkrom PKMN.nds" without quotes! You can also replace PKMN.nds with whatever you want, but keep it short. You can give it a longer name after wards (newpoketext may find problems with long names).

    You're Done!!!

Plus, if you want more help pm me, or we can make a patch together if you want! [IMG]

yeah this is the same for me!!
i type in patch blah.xml and the command windows flashes some text and then closes, and my msg.narc is left untouched, so i cant progress to the next step. This is so annoying, i have so much to offer!!

@MaK11-12, please, if you don't mind would you write down the files you have in you 'newpokesave' file...or actually maybe you have the time to rar them and upload them for me, so i know I'm using the exact same files as you??

Im so sure, im doing every step correctly, I just don't know whats going wrong!!

Thanks in advance for your reply, cheers for taking the time to read this!

Make sure you replace the "false" tag in your XML to "true".
And if you used the "getall" command in thenewpoketext, you need to find the one corresponding with the line you edited (the closest one above the line you edited). Or if you translated most of the game, I recommend using the "Replace All" feature in your text editing program to replace all 'false' tags with 'true'.
Once you do that and save, follow what MaK11-12 said.

I use notpad++ becuase its quite fast, and shows text from every language without installing any language packs. It accepts many many file types!
    Try it!

A lil trick from me to avoid this "Flashing Window":
Create twofiles, one txt and one cmd or bat.

    Write in the text this:
[romname] = here comes your nds rom name
[xmlname] = the name if your xml
[textname] = the name of the txt

Put these two files to the thenewpoketext.exe and start the cmd.
You'll see what thenewpoketext wants to tell you.

    Hi,

I think I may have the same problem as you every time I try to put the *.xml back in after editing or even without editing it I get this coming up.

This helps alot, but it can come in every system.
This is the message, if anything isn't correct.
You can check, that tehre is really an error in this line. Do you think it isn't you can delete the wohle text tag.
    E.g.:

    Crap&

Here is the "&" wrong. When you want to use this, you have to use \and.

After corrcecting/deleting this tag you can try it again.

Hahahahahaha! ROFL! The reason why are the Spaces in the Edited Text, probably. If you're Using any ONLINE Translator such as Google, Bing, etc, it's going to give you Unwanted spaces.
