For the people that don't perpetually hang out in the Themeplaza discord server, there was an announcement relatively recently and I thought I'd spread the news.

Think of the children… as always. Anything is regulated, gated or outright forbidden nowadays.
On the other side the NFSW content there was of extraordinary low quality, really primitive → nothing of value lost in my opinion.

I'd expect another site popping up dedicated to this kind of stuff.

Is it really necessary for them to do this globally? Just remove access from users in the UK and replace the mods with a link to the UK petition for repealing the law which bans them.

However, considering that ThemePlaza decided to ban my theme just for being BGM-only, I don't have high hopes for this to be amended.

What's the legal definition of "sketchy content"?
Did you read the post thoroughly or skim? They mean NSFW content as in themes that have artwork that show revealing clothing or partial nudity.

Also, the Online Safety Act in general isn't very well put together. These new laws do nothing to "protect" NSFW content, loopholes exist to get around such blocks.

I can do it. Is there a repo or a good way I can backup the existing themes in bulk?

I can write a python script if there if I can get some guidance on what the community needs

Yes, the law requires it since its hosted in the UK.

Wonder how long until that happens on our side

More and more states are banning porn without submitting a government id
I'm honestly sick and tired of all this, "protecting the children". Like shit... what they learn? How babies are made?
But you can buy games where you rip peoples heads off, and thats fine!

Buy games where you can shoot people with a off-sawed shotgun, and thats fine as well?

Unless violence is curated away first(please don't), leave porn alone....

It’s even more back asswards if you think about some of the shows some of us grew up watching

Idk how old you are but I was born in 96. Some of them children’s cartoons where not exactly for children (like happy tree friends and ren and stimpy) for some minor examples ..

Then they started banning everything to protect the children..after that I’d argue that gen z are just over compensating cause they wherent used to seeing any of this stuff

I don’t want to use the term snow flake I fucking hate it..but that kind of sums up what I mean by that last point. They think any and everything is crossing a line

Indeed. Ren and Stimpy were king. Happy Tree Friends however were never ment for young children. Original Ren and Stimpy where suppose to be adult cartoon, but Nickelodeon wanted it for children.

They only later made a proper grown up version.

I mean in Sweden sex isn't a taboo as much as it seems in the rest of the world... well then.... we blocked paying OnlyFans because for "Cyber prostitution"...

I know you're speaking generally, but in this exact case, there's no "need" or educational value of having explicit themes lol :D

I remember being scarred for life by a certain show - "Grisly Tales for Gruesome Children" or some such. It was dark as fuck and definitely not at all appropriate for children; even now, when I don't have any memories of it, I still feel sick thinking about it.

At the time, I probably thought it'd be like the "Horrible Histories" (and Science, Geography, etc.) books I enjoyed reading, but NOPE. Not at all. 🤮

How was that allowed, but the slightest hint of sex is banworthy? Ugh.

Depends on the child, I used to love that show as a kid, although you were younger than me when that premiered going by your profile.
