From which hax (entry point + version) are you launching the installer? Have you entered the home menu theme menu at least once?

I've downloaded and installed homemenuHax 2.0 today, with the online installer (that I've didn't have any problems related to it).

If you use the search bar on the forum, you may find some links to the 1.2 or unofficial 1.3 builds (including the offline versions of it).
