Haha; you can make the template have a white background instead of a transparent one; or, you could use the paint brush to make the canvas white.But then all you need to do is make the canvas a little bigger so you can have the white background create "borders" around your pictures.
Then you can open up your pictures, crop them as you see fit, and drag the layer over to your white canvas. It's easier to drag the layer if you've undocked one of the picture files...
