The World Ends With You: Final Remix western launch date revealed

Fans of the Nintendo DS classic The World Ends With You will be excited to know that the wait for the updated Nintendo Switch version of the title isn't too far away. The World Ends With You -Final Remix- will be hitting Switch consoles in North America and Europe on October 12, 2018, less than a month after the scheduled Japanese release date. This version of the game will cost full retail price, and will be available both physically and digitally. Final Remix will offer HD graphics, an arranged soundtrack, and will offer both touch screen and Joy-Con control schemes.

One of the most acclaimed portable games of the last 10 years is making its way to the Nintendo Switch system with HD visuals, enhanced gameplay and exclusive new content. The World Ends with You: Final Remix launches for Nintendo Switch on Oct. 12. Nintendo has released a new trailer for the game.

Complete the mission…or face erasure. That’s all Neku knows after regaining consciousness in the middle of a busy intersection without his memories. Now he and his partner must fight to survive a life-or-death game in this twisted tale with more turns than the urban labyrinth of Tokyo they’re trapped in. This definitive version of SQUARE ENIX’s RPG classic brings the dark story to life on the Nintendo Switch system along with a new scenario and some new remixed music.

Vibrant themes of Japanese youth culture, food and fashion are seamlessly integrated into the gameplay and storyline. Players can join rhythmic battles using either Joy-Con controllers or the Nintendo Switch touch screen. In two-player co-op mode, players can battle Noise and challenge the Reapers’ Game together.

I could never get into the original, and I'm a big JRPG fan. I may give it another chance if I can get it cheap at some point, but I won't pay full retail price for it.

WHAT.

Oh, come on. The original game was $40, the fuck is this? Dang, I was pretty excited for this, but I don't think I'll pay a full fat $60 for a game that launched at almost half that price. That extra content better be worth it
Square always pulls this premium pricing nonsense. Even the shipping cost on their online store is ridiculous. We're getting Tales of Vesperia for $50 and Shenmue I & II for $30 which makes this $60 price seem even more greedy.

Damn shame. I would love to buy this game at launch, but I think I'll wait for the price to come down a bit. What the hell is up with the Switch Price Premium of ports?

No kidding, especially considering that the mobile port can be had for $18 on iOS or Google Play. A quick Google search gives me eBay listings for the DS cart at $10-15 wherever I look. I think a fair price for an HD remaster would be $20-30, and with the extra content, perhaps even as high as $40, but $60 is far too steep.

Awesome, though i'm still disappointed they went with the neutered mobile combat. I guess it'd be hard to incorporate the original combat, but I do think it would've been doable with some effort.

Extra story content is super hype though. Really excited for that. This better spawn a damn sequel finally.

I hope they added controller support ....

As I mentioned in an old thread of mine, I happened to be able to try the pre release version a few month ago and it was touch only !

i dont really see a way for this to be good with the control options present.
i already got extremely annoyed with a thin touchpen in the way, now you have your fat fingers obstructing the screen?

the slightly floaty gyro controls might work if you get some sensitivity control to adjust, maybe...

still probably gonna be very busy and crowded if they fuse the two battlescreens
